Again with the attitude, Tony.  I never claimed to be "Dance-literate," as you put it, I was merely repeating facts that you yourself have stated here, including about the popularity and success of Dance in the performance arena, and you threw them back in my face.

The facts remain:  When I first checked in on this topic when Hot 107.1 flipped, I predicted it would not make a ratings dent, the signal was horrible, and it would not lead to a rapid spread of the format on terrestrial radio, despite what many others here said/hoped.  I was pooh-poohed at the time.  The bottom line is that six months later, the facts still weigh in my favor on this one, regardless of how passionate the Dance fans are in Denver or anywhere else.

Welcome to New York.  I'll leave it at that.

I will add....

Let's go back to reply #43.  The thread was virtually "dead" until you came back and stated what you did RockTheGlobe.

Rock fans give dance fans a lot of crap in here.  I don't care if I take it or not..I've been "beaten up" all these years on boards such as this that I no longer feel the punches.  But no way am I gonna take any comments from you or anyone without me fighting back.   And if that's "attitude", then I am glad to have it!

I've answered you with the good and bad about dance.  I can admit failure if indeed there was one.  But the fact of the matter is, KDHT is still on the air.  Yes, it doesn't reach that well into Denver proper, I've understood that from day one.  So the numbers may not appear to be up.....stations like this take time.  It took time with Pulse 87; that station basically got around via word of mouth.  There was no advertising, billboards, etc.  I helped to start to make the noise on the station back in 2008 and it traveled around.

We were very excited about KDHT because it launched near a major market.  I'm still behind the station.  You can talk about dance festivals, overseas, Internet streams, etc and that's all good but we want successes in terrestrial radio as well, tougher now that FM seems to be leaning towards "spoken word" but hell, we want that too for dance music.

We can argue till the cows come home, and if I "poo-pooed"  Roll Eyes on your statement, I will be the first to say that I am sorry.  I can do that if I've offended someone.  Until KDHT goes off the air, it's still on and despite the ratings we are still behind it 100%  And yes, New York City needs a station similar to this.

I find it interesting that Clear Channel maintains so many dance-oriented channels on IHeartRadio. They are now up to 8, with the addition of the new, ambitious Evolution channel, featuring BBC Radio's EDM DJ Pete Tong.
Knowing very little about EDM (electronic dance music), I thought that lots of it sounds similar to what is on WKTU, just more current. But after listening for a few minutes to Evolution, which apparently airs a very pure form of EDM, I better understand Tony Santiago's point that 'KTU does not play the real EDM. But at the same time, I think this stuff is too esoteric to air on a major station, which needs to serve the mass market. But perhaps CC could consider switching WKTU HD2 from Pride (which does sound similar to 'KTU), to one of the other 7 from IHeart.

I found an article that provides more detail about Clear Channel's new online Electronic Dance Music station, Evolution. Apparently they are putting considerable effort and resources into it. According to the article, it will  be promoted on some of CC's CHR, alternative and rhythmic stations.
They are offering a live concert today at a CC venue in New York.
So Clear Channel evidently believes there is a sizable niche market for EDM, but has apparently decided it can most effectively be served through online (and some HD2) broadcasts.

If CC had to replace Pride Radio on WKTU-HD2, it should be Club Phusion.

It's not as intense as Evolution is, and comes pretty close to what a dance station should sound like on commercial radio.  But for what Evolution is doing, I definitely applaud it Smiley

No. YOU need a station like this. EVERY time a station flips, fails or is sold. Buy and Ipod, download IHEART Radio or Pandora. Dance in NYC. Not happening no matter how many posts. This isn't Denver You can't use it to build a premise

And you only think I am the only one that wants a station like this.  I'm just one of the few that are outspoken about this and won't bow down to anyone.

Oh, and another thing.....go to ANY post about 94.7 or 101.9.  Have you even seen me MENTION dance?  Someone in here is out of touch......
