Agreed.  Listened to their online stream hoping they'd actually have some "beat" to it. What I heard just sounded like a normal, plain CHR.

Agreed, Caleb.

Springfield needs a real Urban Contemporary, not another Top-40, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I don't think the demographics are in the area. Gotta drive to St. Louis or KC for that.

A few years ago, even Joplin, yes JOPLIN had a decent sounding Rhythmic station on 107.1. Played a bit of Pretty Ricky, T.I. and a few of Mike Jones' songs. I understand they may be billed as a rhythmic. But honestly, I just don't think the demos are there. KDGS/Wichita is an amazing rhythmic. I wish Springfield could pull in a station like that, but I just don't see it happening. Hence what's going on now with 92.9.

Does anyone know how this station is doing since the switch from Star?

Its first book was lousy.  It ranked lower than Star in almost every demo.

However, the disaster that was the Beat was overshadowed by KTTS having a huge jump and KGBX losing half of its audience (despite an all-Christmas flip) since letting Woody P. Snow go last Spring.
