Top 10 18-49 isn't good enough.  You've gotta be top 5 or better.  If you're the 6th most listened to station in a demo, why should an agency buy that station instead of stations 1-5?

I'd also like to note that the comment about radio formerly being about ratings and now being about billing is ignoring the point of ratings:  ratings were invented to show listenership to sell more ads.  It's been about the money since the 20's.

It would be nice if Cumulus buys the intellectual property of WRXP and moves it to 94.7 the same day 101.9 goes to ESPN. There's a distinct possibility that both of the sales could close on the same day.

CBS should simulcast K-Rock on 101.9 for a week, then tout the fact that it can be heard on 92.3-HD2 or online. Then they'll get the WRXP listeners to sample K-Rock. Better yet, put K-Rock on 101.9-HD2 and a dance CHR on 92.3-HD2.

Why do I have a feeling that we ALL are going to get "sucker punched" and a format comes through that no one would have seen coming?

Has anyone told ESPN that they're on the move again?  Tongue

I have noticed the WRXP are steering people to 94.3 the Shark. Me thinks the end is in sight...  Sad

According to the news page of Radio-Info.com, the CBS Radio LMA of 101.9 is expected to begin on November 1.
The brief article states that the sales staff was let go last Friday.

I will say this...4 different people who don't know each other and are certainly not radio people via facebook in the last 2 days posted about the upcoming flip of RXP, bemoaning the quick loss of the 'most refreshing thing to happen to radio in NYC in some time". I was rather surprised. For all the flack they've gotten since the beginning Merlin deserves some credit here. They figured the simplicity of how to do it right when the other "big guys" couldn't. It almost seems crazy someone wouldn't pick it up...almost.

The Shark is not a suitable replacement. I'm sure they won't play M83, Grouplove, Of Monsters and Men, Muse, etc...just the same old tired "active" stuff. Sad
