Let the speculation begin!  Is there a WABC AM/FM simulcast in the future?

Or maybe the best of the AM's current syndicated shows moving to 94.7 along with new local shows in morning and afternoon drive, with 770 being left to B-list conservatives, self-help/investment scammers and assorted brokered-time programs.

I'm thinking with Cumulus, it MAY be a music format coming.

They have many stations with various musical formats.  That I think will most likely happen than a "WABC-FM" scenario.   At least with sports radio there's guaranteed money when you think of the various leagues/teams that want the media coverage.   That won't happen with a WABC FM.  But of course with radio lately you can't totally rule anything out.

With Cumulus, the most likely candidates are, in order: WABC-FM (no need for explanation), Country (Cumulus runs a lot of Country stations and it would be a nice pairing with PLJ), Alternative (Cumulus runs a few of these, as well, expect a more Active direction if they pursue this option). Just my .02.

Country does make some sense for the reason you mention.
CBS Sports Radio makes sense from a "corporate branding" perspective -- getting carriage in Market #1 for the fledgling network...but THREE sports stations on the NYC FM dial? Really? At this point, nothing would surprise me!!  But with Cumulus at the helm, you can be sure that whatever they do, it will be on the cheap, cheap, cheap!!

CBS Sports Radio?

101.9 got CBS Sports Radio. How about an LMA between CBS and Cumulus where 1010 WINS or WCBS 880 goes FM. But since 1010 WINS has the Cumulus/ABC-E affiliation that could be a possibility.

Doesn't NBC also have a sports-talk format in the works? Maybe it winds up on 94.7. As previously mentioned, so many sports stations in one market doesn't look like it makes a lot of sense, but advertisers buy national sports radio on the number of markets a given network is in, not the number of listeners in any one market. Potential ears rather than actual ears, which works when the ears that are going to be listening all hit a Madison Avenue demographic sweet spot the way sports listeners do.

I think country and/or active rock make the most sense. Do we expect a major morning show or will it be a "more music" type of format?
