« on: October 17, 2012, 11:48:53 AM »

All Access reports it starts next Tuesday (10/23/12) and will run 9PM to midnight.  Good by to John Batchelor on WABC???

Batchelor's show is so high-brow, it should be on NPR on C=SPAN.  I can't imagine he gets any ratings.

I think it's good that he will be on those hours, because talk radio in NY is lacking from 9PM-1AM.

WABC should run Savage from 9 pm to midnight, move Batchelor to 12-4am, start Noem Laydon's show at 4am instead of 5, get rid of the truckers and replace Imus, Rush, Hannity and Levin with anything else.

John Batchelors show is so dry. I've tried to listen, but I lose interest very quickly. As another poster mentioned, his show belongs on NPR. I hope WABC will run Savage starting next Tuesday. It is still syndicated on a station that really needs some local programming, but Savage is a fun listen. I remember he used to on WABC in the late 90's and early 2000's before going to WOR.

When Savage makes his debut on Cumulus on Monday october 23, will he be picked up by a New York station? Will WOR which will soon become a Clear Channel owned station do so? Will WABC dump John Bachelor, which may be a contractual issue, put Savage in the 9P-12 Midnight time slot?

Savage is third with eight million listeners behind Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

You have to remember that Batchelor and Savage will both be working for, and syndicated by, the same company.  And the shows are scheduled in the same time period.

It's not likely, at this stage, that Cumulus would want to allow Savage to be on WOR, or that Clear Channel would want to run a rival show on its new flagship station.

So, Batchelor may find his time changed at some Cumulus O&Os, like WABC, or in a worst case, for him, scenario, have his contract bought out so the stronger rated Savage can pick up clearance on the Batchelor affiliates.

As a Batchelor fan, I hope they find some way to keep him on the daily schedule.  His show has a refreshingly different and informative approach to Conservative talk.  You can actually come away learning something after investing time listening.

This would actually mark a return to WABC for Savage. I recall he wasn't very happy when his show was pre-empted for Devils games (back when WABC carried them). He would rant about "the Mouse" (Disney) and "the puck" (NHL)...

...Doug McIntyre just posted on my Facebook page that Savage WILL NOT be coming to KABC and is unlikely to be added to WABC either...
