And they call their phone lines "The BULL HORNS." Cute.

With the relaunch comes some major changes in the on-air staff; see more details at http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/114081/kupl-morphs-into-98-7-the-bull-contemporary-countr and http://radioinsight.com/blog/headlines/80447/kupl-portland-gets-bullish.

Also, has any other Country station relaunched with the clichéd "10,000 (commercial-free) songs in a row"?

Hate to see folks go, but glad Philadelphia product B-Dub's still there!

Both the Oregonian (at http://www.oregonlive.com/music/index.ssf/2013/01/kupl_987_fm_rebrands_as_the_bu.html) and Inside Radio (at http://www.insideradio.com/Article.asp?id=2603608&spid=32061) got some original quotes from Alpha management about why the revamp took place.

Inside Radio's story takes much more of a feature-y view of why a station that was still very, very much competitive in the format did such an overhaul (encapsulated by the headline, "Programming surprise in Portland").  The Oregonian story also includes a mention that Alpha is indeed actively looking for new air talent.

68,000+ likes within two weeks of the rebranding... good sign?

I'm really sorry that Mike & Amy were dismissed; does anyone know if they've been hired elsewhere/

Were they ever at KUPL? I know they were dismissed from The Wolf last year after 13 years...

The new midday guy is Danny Dwyer; see more at both http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/115060/kupl-names-danny-dwyer-for-middays and http://news.radio-online.com/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=n26352.  (The latter mentions that he currently does morning traffic for KPTV, which he may continue doing.)

For nights, the station adds "Brody"--who comes from a CHR background.  Both http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/116054/kupl-hires-brody-for-nights and http://www.allaboutcountry.com/Blog/?PostID=61775 include a quote claiming that he'll be living temporarily in the house for "The Real World: Portland"; however, I don't know if they're being serious about it.

Now, it looks like there'll be some stunting going on for mornings during April--with Blake Shelton "auditioning" on Monday, and other artists apparently following suit throughout the month.

See more at http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/116896/blake-shelton-is-the-new-kupl-morning-show-voice and http://news.radio-online.com/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=n26657.

(Yes, it could all be an April Fools' Day stunt.  However, if that were the case, I doubt that KUPL/Alpha would've issued an actual press release and promoted a vanity URL [likethebull.com] that redirects to the station's Facebook page.)
