EAS prank
« on: February 11, 2013, 05:57:46 PM »

An EAS prank aired on TV stations in Montana today is starting to make the rounds on Gawker other viral media sites.

"Civil authorities in your area are reporting that the bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living..."

Did this get picked up by radio stations too?

You mean there are actual, live and locally staffed radio stations in Montana?  Roll Eyes

They also hacked in to Utah, via KSL Radio. It was stopped by live air staff on the main channels, but was auto-forwarded on the HD-2's.
The IP Addresses (two different ones...one for log on, one for log off, about ten minutes apart) were QWEST, but were shown as a satellite link, so the "location" was zero degrees latitude and zero longitude. I heard that the Montana units logged an IP from Europe.
Maybe they hacked via Proxy Servers. The addresses show up as spam-bots.

There's a new zombie movie coming out this week...this looks like it was a spam for it.

If this had happened in Washington DC, people would have just thought Congress was in session.  Or if it was in Chicago on Election Day, it would have been voters heading for the polls. Grin

Hijacked, not hacked.
