They're reporting that a complaint from the Anti-Defamation League over a comment Dan made re: saving money ("it's the Hebrew in me") was what led to his firing.

Can somebody explain something to me?

With comments like the "monkeys" thing last year, and (maybe) earlier stupidities that came out of his mouth, WQAM knew what they were getting.  Maybe they were thinking he'd straighten out after all that, but seriously----do they really think that by his past history of controversy, WQAM felt they had lightning-in-a-bottle?

Controversy may be electrifying for some folk in radio, but three words:  it's only sports!!

I think I heard Sileo say the G.D. word once, and that offends Christians like me....but they always seem to let *that* slide.  Is it okay because Tiger Woods says it?  Hypocrisy here on WQAM's part, if he was let go for the remark mentioned in the above post.

I made a wisecrack after WQAM let Rosenberg go, on this board, at the time Sileo was let go from his previous gig---that WQAM might pick up Sileo.  I can't even joke about it!  Seems like the very next day, WQAM got him.

While I agree with much of what CD said.  But remember that WQAM was the last home of Neil Rogers.  Not to defend Dan Sileo, but on a daily basis, Neil said much "worse" than Sileo has ever said.

... and yet, Neil always seemed to get away with it.

"Offensive" is in the ear of the beholder, I suppose...

Well, that was my point.  Hypocrisy.

Please don't compare Dan Sileo to Neil Rogers.  Please.

Despite the fact that I made the comparison, I agree - Dan Sileo is no Neil Rogers.  There is no one working in Miami radio today that compares to Uncle Neil.
