A day in the life of a lamptimer

NML, you're on your way to catching the Old Gringo in total number of posts. We'll check back in three years...should be pretty close by then!

Proving that I have way too much time on my hands lately, I researched this fun Old Gringo fact: If market rankings were based on number of RadioDiscussions.com posts, the Old Gringo would qualify as market #16. For example, his >25K number of total posts here would still be less than the total number of posts on the Phoenix board, but he'd be well ahead of markets like San Diego, Miami-Ft Lauderdale, and even Chicago (!).

(NOTE: These numbers are fluid and constantly changing, and may not be valid if this post is Googled from the future. As of September 2013 El Gringo Viejo is not that far from eclipsing market #15.)

Now, back to the on-topic trials and tribulations of soon-to-be-Hubbardized Lumberyard 14~Forty, KAZG, Scottsdale-Phoenix.

Can you imagine his TSP? (time spent posting)...must be off the charts. YIKES!

Are any of the Lamptimer regulars monitoring the smoke stack at Lumberyard 14~Forty for signs of FCC approval of their sale to Mother Hubbard? White smoke = deal is done. Black smoke = another hit of Medical AZ Gold! While Mom is anxiously waiting, the goldminers are comin' through with 14 in a row every hour and "The Weight" every other hour!

Here's one recorded at Audio Recorders in Phoenix that may or may not be about the funky club scene on Broadway Rd, depending upon who you talk to. Before Wilson Pickett made it a hit, Dyke & The Blazers was down and gritty in our fair city... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C5Kl58eMTA

Dyke was even murdered here. That's what I call dedication! Before that, however, he had a couple of great releases with the Blazers. Check out "We Got More Soul" sometime. That one belongs on the Arizona Goldmine, if no other reason for its local flava (flavah?) (phlav..never mind).

14~Forty's 52 nighttime watts made it possible for this gal to keep her "radio by her side" 24/7. But look what it did to her Gold-mind! Written by the genius philosopher of the 70s, Alan "Undercover Angel" O'Day, and recorded by...oh that would spoil any surprise left. Click the link only if you're Reddy: http://bit.ly/17J1uTp

eeewww! Guess the next Gold-mindnumbing hit you'll be suggesting is this sugary sweet Seventy Two numero uno song. If you like "It's A Small World Afterall", you're bound to love this. Remember...the dental office of Dr Akbar is open daily 8am-5pm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3xSAyxxMG8

OK, OK, OK! Enough with the challenging lyrics. Time for something completely different! And no doubt this is the feeling some of the "surplus" Goldminers have as Mother Hubbard prepares to receive the keys to her new cupboard. http://bit.ly/1fMXpyv

Mother Hubbard might appreciate having an oldies-knowledgeable, fellow female in charge of programming operations of the pow-pow-power tower if you know of one looking for work, that is, maybe "Angie Baby". They could just tell them they have a plan that will make the station highly profitable. When they ask what that plan is, she could just make up something on the spot, out of thin air…just like a programming consultant would!

Here, Lou Christie delivers the message that at the very least, Mother Hubbard is going to demand increased productivity from the Lumberyard 14~Forty Goldminers! http://bit.ly/15dzRSj

That video looks like it was shot at an AMC recycling plant, with the mangled remains of Hornets, Pacers, Gremlins and Matadors waiting to be transformed into new refrigerators! Here's the lead Goldminer lamenting his debt to the Gumpdusky (and soon Mother Hubbard) store on the banks of the cross-cut canal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6m1qgnUw74

Paging Dr Akbar.......
