WSWG channel 44 (originally WVAG): city of license Valdosta GA, transmitter (and master control) in Adel, studio/offices in Moultrie. It had been a UPN station, then briefly MyNet; after Gray bought it, it went with CBS and was controlled from WCTV, simulcasting its news.
 
...from 1968 to 1972, KFIZ-TV/34 Fond du Lac WI was equidistant from Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay. It was an independent that picked up some programming OTA from stations in each of those markets (Milwaukee Brewers baseball and Bucks basketball from WTMJ-TV/4 and WISN-TV/12, educational programming from WLUK-TV/11 Green Bay, Sesame Street and The Electric Company from WMVS/10 Milwaukee and WHA-TV/21 Madison, Roller Derby from WITI/6 Milwaukee, and AWA All-Star Wrestling, Roller Game of the Week, Kup's Show and CBS' Merv Griffin Show from WVTV/18 Milwaukee), and covered the northern halves of the Milwaukee and Madison markets, but pretty much concentrated on serving Green Bay and the Fox River Valley. They had a fairly strong viewership, but their sales people couldn't suck enough, and when the licensee wanted to bail out of the media game, they were able to find buyers for co-owned KFIZ/1450 and the Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, but not for the TV station. Thus, the plug was pulled in November 1972 and the license turned back to the FCC...
 
How about KVOS 12 in Bellingham, WA? Licensed to Bellingham, transmitter on Mt. Constitution (Orcas Island), rimshot for Seattle, mainly serves Vancouver BC and NW WA as a Me-TV station. Used to be a good indie and formerly CBS. When Me-TV went on, KVOS reappeared on Seattle cable TV for the first time in many many years. SyndEx killed KVOS' cable coverage around 1990 or 91.

WTTV’s owner bought WWKI Kokomo in 1987 and turned it to a WTTV satellite with new call sign WTTK. WTTV’s transmitter was/is well south of Indianapolis in Trafalgar, so it only put out a Grade B signal to Indy’s northern suburbs. WWKI/WTTK had its analog transmitter near Windfall. Tribune bought WTTV/WTTK in 2002, creating a duopoly with Fox affiliate WXIN. With the DTV transition, WTTK now transmits from WXIN’s tower in northern Indianapolis, creating significant signal overlap with WTTV. Yet they still operate as satellite stations! Aside from the required hourly station ID, there is little mention of WTTK on WTTV.
 
WHPX-26 is an ION affiliate located in New London, CT. It's OTA signal covers parts of the Hartford-New Haven,CT market and parts of the Providence, RI market. Their market target is Hartford-New Haven and they are only carried on cable in CT.

In central NJ you can easily pick up the Philly channels even though most of central NJ is part of the NYC DMA.

Providence has its own ION station, WPXQ-69. Its transmitter is in Hopkinton near the CT border, and its signal covers all of the Providence DMA as well as the eastern half of CT. It's licensed to Block Island, but wasn't carried by Block Island Cable TV (which has since shut down).
 
Add KYOU-15 Ottumwa IA to the list. Charter FOX affiliate in the 80s...when the owners decided to pony up for a new 1200' tower around 1990, FOX convinced them to build near Richland IA, 26 miles ENE of Ottumwa and just over the line in Keokuk County, in the Cedar Rapids-Waterloo DMA. Two miles south of the Richland tower is the Jefferson County line and the Ottumwa-Kirksville DMA. Near Grade A for Iowa City, Grade B rimshot for Cedar Rapids...of course that's all about the analog days.

It came to pass that way because the old KOCR-28 in C.R. sucked that bad.

And when it was a CBS affiliate, it aired either a heavily reshuffled schedule or (for the last decade) only aired news programs. Always wondered why either KVOS or CBS just didn't cut bait, especially with Seattle's KIRO complaining about a fellow CBS affiliate in its backyard.
