It's 2015! Time to get rid of the '70s.

YouTube, web-radio, etc. have introduced me to new artists that I've found I really liked and, more importantly for the music industry, I've bought discs and downloads. Taylor Swift has it wrong. Illegal downloads is the problem, not streaming. Streaming has actually helped reduce piracy.

Great. Tell Taylor. I'm sure she'll take your call.

That's what WE say. But they disagree. But go ahead....talk to the artists and RIAA about it. Make my day. Let me know what they tell you.

Thousands of us have tried, and the music industry has come up with all of their own studies and explanations why we're wrong. It's like Radio Discussions, except for money.

I will consider my position a victory since we seem to agree but I have no horse in this race and quit tilting at windmills when I retired 14 years ago. I now get to sit in front of my PC and pontificate knowing my investments are taking good care of me and don't depend upon my mouth to create wealth or get me out of a jam.

Spotify, Netflix, iTunes Radio, YouTube, Shoutcast, Last.fm, Pandora, etc. are all legal alternatives.

Most of them are being sued by the RIAA.

But once again, I don't care. I don't work for the music industry. Since you think you know so much, go and argue with them for a few days.

LOL! Actually, you are wrong about that. It's file-sharing sites they are suing, not streaming sites.

Music Lover, maybe it's just time to end the thread. No one listens anyways. They just disagree.

And yes A, he knows "so much". Why do you think you're always above us? Just go with the flow man and maybe learn something too. Like the mod. said, we can be BOTH right.

I propose the mods need to lock the thread. That's what happens on other boards I've been on when people continuously argue.

There is no need to lock the thread. That doesn't mean it won't get locked.

That's why the music / radio fans and enthusiasts should have their own exclusive area to post. Not to say we can also debate amongst ourselves (won't that be funny!), but it should be far less frequent than it is now with everyone intermingled on these threads. Just an idea.

There is a "radio pros" section on this board above radio topics, so there should be a fan's board as well.

But this is not a music board or a chartist board. It is about radio stations.

Listeners (such as myself) that have joined here are going to naturally be talking about music and charts rather than the business stuff that radio professionals that have joined here will naturally be talking about.

The major thing I joined here for is to find out from the professionals what Soft AC streams are out there that I can add to my iTunes library, which is why I created a thread for that in the AC board and the Soft AC/EZ Listening/Standards board.

This is the AC board thread: http://www.radiodiscussions.com/showthread.php?680194-Looking-for-Internet-Soft-AC-Streams

The thread will end when you finally have the courtesy and common sense to stop posting rehashes of everything you have said before. Einstein was right.

Why should there be a music fan board on a radio industry site?

Better yet, why don't you go start one?

It would seem that the basic tenet of the thread to get rid of the 70s can be summed up in a 60s title: Paint It Black. There is just no such thing as too much good old rock and roll.

I'd rather have the traffic here, thanks.

I made a list of easy listening/soft rock streams I've come across on my own so far.

I figured I would copy it to the general AC forum, since people here have been missing such stations.

However the link in the general AC forum had to be closed due to being a duplicate: http://www.radiodiscussions.com/sho...of-Web-Only-Easy-Listening-Soft-Rock-Stations

So, for those that are interested, you can find the other link to the list here: http://www.radiodiscussions.com/sho...of-Web-Only-Easy-Listening-Soft-Rock-Stations

Great idea (heavy sarcasm mode ON). When the people who agree with each other all talk together in one forum, and the people who disagree with them all talk together on another forum, that's not "discussion". That's chat rooms.

Many streams I've come across have either been like:

a) www.181.fm - primarily ad-supported streams, donations optional
b) www.live365.com - both ad-supported streams and subscription streams

Even Amazon.com has added streaming stations to their music player. You have to be a Amazon Prime member to be able to listen to the streaming. Amazon Prime membership costs $99/year, which can get costly if you are on a limited budget.

I wouldn't worry, Boz. They're having too much fun "putting down the suits" to go elsewhere.

But it gets me thinking, and I would like oldies76, Avid Listener, Music Lover, landtuna and the rest to answer this question: If there were "music fan" categories here on RD, would you leave the professionals alone except to pop in when you have a question about the programming process, then take the answer back without arguing about it first?
