New KOAI FM translator brings its signal to South Mountain

Looks like KOAI's got company. Now ID'ing as "95.1 and 94.9 The Oasis" and it looks like the 94.9 is Riviera's K235CB South Mountain [Chandler].

Was this FM translator on before today? FCC lists it as rebroadcasting KEXX but I don't think it ever did.

Hadn't heard anything on this frequency until now, but the Gremlin's roof and my fez shield a lot of RF. Riviera doesn't appear to be going anywhere with The Oasis, so the Nurse and I doubt their downtown translator will make any difference. And their "55 minutes of music" billboards are rather meaningless when you can stream that kind of music commercial free on your desktop, iPad, or any Smartass Phone!

I like The Oasis. Now that my preference for music isn't on the local airwaves any longer my car radio's are generally set on 95.1 if for nothing more than easy listening.

I hadn't either. Sometime in January/February I recall flipping around the dial and hearing Tucson 94.9 via a very mild tropo (or something, the weather was kind of odd). That probably is gone now.

Oasis plays the same music over & over.
Like someone's MP3 player with the same 100 songs ....on "shuffle".
How many times a day can they play the Pina Colada song or three times a lady?

If they played both titles four times a day, wouldn't that be caught in the rain 12 times with a lady? YIKES!

Besides, we all know that isn't Rupert Holmes' best songwriting. He was better earlier in his career, when he was young and hungry.
