What would you do in your market if you had the clout?

Why ?? So they can turn it into another WTVJ ?? Don't think so

WTVJ is an NBC O&O. I'm wishing KXAS is out of the O&O business.

CW doesn't have any O&O stations. Those are all owned either by CBS or Tribune

They do, any CW affiliate owned by CBS. Tribune won't consider CW's as O&O's.

Umm.....Isn't this station ALREADY an Independent ??

If you're talking about KDAF, NO, they are still CW, not Indpendent! KTXA is the CBS-owned Independent. I'm saying CW goes to KTXA and KDAF goes independent.

Only problem is Comcast/NBC has NEVER been interested in it's O&O's producing newscasts FOR ANYONE except MAYBE Telemundo affiliates (And those are in Latin)

I think THE ONLY exception to this has been Miami (But you can thank MG for that)

It happened before in Philly but then realize it was later changed to the ABC affiliate producing newscasts for WPHL.

Why should Gannett buy the station if they can just simply produce the newscasts for them ??

KTXD doesn't do newscasts from WFAA, and if anything, KTXD doesn't air any newscasts. But suggesting that since WFAA did replay newscasts on former independent KFWD (before flipping to MundoFox), they would do the same on KTXD.

WHY ON EARTH should CBS or Fox even CONSIDER selling KDFW or KTVT to Nexstar JUST BECAUSE Nexstar happens to have its corporate offices in the DFW area ??

It would make sense to have a flagship station in the market Nexstar's headquarters are in just like the old Belo.

If they do, they'll be THE FIRST Fox affiliate - OR O&O - to launch a 4:00 PM newscast. This is generally considered a HORRIBLE idea for a Fox affiliate (Which is why NEITHER KTTV or WNYW do it in LA & NY - And they're the top two cities in America)

Why should lowly (Compared to KTTV 11 & WNYW 5) KABB 29 in San Antonio do what Fox doesn't even do in LA or NY (OR DFW & Houston for that matter) ??

There are already some Fox affiliates that air a 4pm newscast like WXIN, WJW, WVUE, and maybe some others.

Umm.....According to Wikipedia, KIAH is already a CW affiliate owned by Tribune.

I know, I'm saying KIAH goes independent and the CW would go to KUBE.

What makes you think Tribune is going to part with it (Or let the CW affiliation go ANYWHERE) ??

Um, didn't Tribune say they had no interest in keeping CW affiliates? Also may I remind us about WTTV going CBS?

Or Gannett buys KUBE & pairs it with KHOU (Or starts producing newscasts & other programs for them)

That's also a good idea.

You need to get your facts straight because most of what you said doesn't make sense & doesn't jive with the facts

I think you need to do some research yourself because I looked into this deep so don't say I don't know what I'm talking about, ok?

WTVJ is an NBC O&O.
I'm talking about the days when the station was under MG management
They do, any CW affiliate owned by CBS.
And all pf them are CBS O&O's. CW has no O&Os
If you're talking about KDAF, NO, they are still CW, not Indpendent! KTXA is the CBS-owned Independent. I'm saying CW goes to KTXA and KDAF goes independent.
OK. Corrected. But why a switch (Aside from the fact you can get KDAF better than KTXA)
KTXD doesn't do newscasts from WFAA, and if anything, KTXD doesn't air any newscasts. But suggesting that since WFAA did replay newscasts on former independent KFWD (before flipping to MundoFox), they would do the same on KTXD.
WFAA could easily produce LIVE newscasts for KTXD though
It would make sense to have a flagship station in the market Nexstar's headquarters are in just like the old Belo.
Well OK. Since you insist that CBS or Fox give up a station to Nexstar because their corporate HQ in Dallas.

To that I say why should it their biggies ?? Remember, they have small tykes too (CBS has the aforementioned KTXA 21 while Fox has MyNet station KDFI 27). My prediction under this scenario - Nexstar gets KTXA 21 but MIGHT NOT get the CW affiliation

BTW - Just because a company happens to have their corporate HQ in a given city doesn't mean they have to have a station there
I know, I'm saying KIAH goes independent and the CW would go to KUBE.
Again the one word question - WHY ??
Um, didn't Tribune say they had no interest in keeping CW affiliates?
Well I don't see KWGN flipping unless it flips to Fox (And even then, Tribune would simply be moving their problem from one station in town to the other)
Also may I remind us about WTTV going CBS?
That was by chance & luck. Nothing else
I think you need to do some research yourself because I looked into this deep so don't say I don't know what I'm talking about, ok?
Well I just did because you obviously didn't look into it deep enough

Cheers & 73 :)

Update - Scott Stovall, who worked at KLEW-3 Lewiston, has moved into Yakima and has become the new 5/6pm news anchor. At least one tiny part is better now. But there are way too many wounds to fix at KIMA, as well as the other big 4 affiliates, and many are still getting rubbed with salt.
And by the way, Q13 Fox KCPQ in Seattle also does a 4PM newscast. Rare for a Fox station. Used to air Maury (I believe) in that slot before debuting the newscast.

Fairbanks, AK (my old, longtime market):

Denali Media should buy KTVF from Chena Broadcasting (meaning they will become sister stations once again with KTVA) and move their studios back to Van Horn Road where they previously belonged! Also, pour a lot of money into KTVF, including (most importantly) HD studio cameras and a satellite truck.

KFXF and K13XD should be sold to Gray Television, who will also invest into the stations by getting them out of that tiny shack on Braddock Street -- which they've called home since day one -- and into brand new facilities somewhere in town. K13XD will probably get new call letters, while KFXF will bring back their 10:00 pm newscast (billing them as Fairbanks' only LOCAL primetime newscast)

Most of all...those three stations should add some subchannels!!!!
