Who aired what where: Lesser-known syndicated shows

"Whoa, Nipsey Russell!" - Mondegreen (misunderstood lyric) for the B-52's "Roam, if you want to..." :)

"So come along and bring your cute Bugs Bunny!"

More from Market #9 (Atlanta), based on listings posted from 1996 and 1997:

(In Person with) Maureen O'Boyle--WSB
Keenen Ivory Wayans--WAGA
Adventures of Sinbad--WUPA
Bzzz!--WAGA
Strange Universe--WAGA
Vibe--WATL
Carnie (Wilson)--WAGA
Gabrielle (Carteris)--WAGA
Mark Walberg--WAGA
America's Most Wanted: Final Justice--WAGA
Richard Bey--WUPA (confirmed!)
Tempestt--WATL
Danny (Bonaduce)!--WATL
Lauren Hutton And...--WUPA
Bananas in Pajamas--WUPA
Crook & Chase--WAGA

Thankfully, nothing on WXIA at that time.

But I'm curious about Boston, especially the Big Three (WBZ, WCVB, WNAC/WNEV/WHDH).

UPDATE: According to a game show tape trade page, College Mad House did indeed air in Atlanta.

And the station who carried it? None other than WSB!!!

WSB must be like a second-tier indie at times, getting the weakest weekend barter programming. And they're ABC!
Richard Bey in Seattle was on KTZZ; Tempestt was on KIRO (UPN days), Carnie was also KIRO (UPN). Lazarus Man and Two were on KIRO as well in 1995-96. KTZZ had Bzzz! and KIRO also had Lauren Hutton And... in 1995.

Another lesser-known show that may have gotten some airtime in the ATL is "Dancin' To The Hits" (hosted by Lorenzo Lamas), which I think also ended up on WSB (Solid Gold, which they aired for many years, had just moved to WATL).

MUCH more rarities that got some airtime in...you know:

Space: 1999--WXIA
Dusty's Trail--WAGA
Police Surgeon--WXIA and later WAGA
Primus--WSB
The Adventurer--WXIA
Monty Nash--WAGA
The Protectors--WXIA
The aforementioned Runaway with the Rich and Famous--WSB

And a correction: Dance 360 was seen here after all...on WUPA of course!

But yes, as crainbebo puts it, WSB as one of the strongest network affiliates in the country has been getting the weakest syndicated programming; most of them got the cancellation notice after only one month (like the aforementioned Lorenzo and Henrietta Music) or one season.

By the way...except for Dance 360, none of these shows were ever aired in Alaska (I think Anchorage saw "Runaway...").

Some more examples, from Dallas
Space Precinct (2040) - KDFI
Richard Simmons' Dreammaker -KDAF
Match Game 98 aforementioned - KDAF
Change of Heart - KDAF
Love Connection (Pat Bullard) - KDAF
Adventures of Jules Verne - KFWD
Street Smarts (Frank Nicotero, semi-forgotten) - Flipped from KDAF, to KLDT 55 briefly, to KFWD, to KDAF again until 2005 cancellation. (In Seattle, this aired on KTWB, then KONG, then KCPQ at various late night airtimes - KTWB was around 11PM, KONG at 11:35PM, and KCPQ around 3-4AM)
Anyplace Wild - KFWD
Critter Gitters - KFWD
Sex Wars - KTXA
Battle Dome - KTXA
America's Black Forum - KTXA

I remember back when I was in elementary school early 90s Rush Limbaugh had a TV show. WFSB Channel 3 in Hartford aired it at 5AM I think.

Dr. Laura's TV talk show aired on WFSB in Hartford at 9AM. Later they bounced it to 2AM or some other obscure time slot.

How about Dr. Joy Browne's failed TV talk show? I have a vague memory of that. I also remember about 10 years ago they would simulcast an hour of her radio show on Discovery Health.

Fight Back with David Horowitz on the low-budget WHCT Channel 18 in Hartford. I know years later he would have a radio show, but he had no Connecticut affiliates.

Fight Back! is far from lesser-known; it ran from 1980 to 1992.

It never aired in Alaska, but here in Atlanta, it started airing on WAGA sometime in 1983 or '84 (after Paramount became the show's syndicator, resulting in dozens more stations picking it up) before moving to WUPA for its final years.

WXIA had the aforementioned Marilu Henner show as well as Roggin's Heroes; I remember the latter on KEVN (Rapid City) and later KFXF when I moved back to Fairbanks for the final time. KOTA -- and KATN on the Fairbanks side -- had the magazine show "The West"; KEVN also had Stuntmasters and some show called "Wide World of Kids" hosted by Jason Hervey.

Jeff Probst's short-lived talker was on KXD, while KTVF had Not Just News and another kids show called "What's Up? Network". Mad Scientist Toon Club aired on KFXF, as well as WOW: Women of Wrestling.

As for Martin Short's talk show? It didn't air in Fairbanks, but I remember seeing it on WWL (New Orleans) one time in 2000 during my return trip to the Mississippi coast (in Atlanta, it aired on WATL).

Oh, and PLEASE don't get me started on Guilty or Innocent (which I recall watching in Phoenix; I don't care about which station)!!!

Brand new Atlanta entries:

Rituals--WXIA and WATL
Check It Out! (Canadian-produced comedy starring Don Adams)--WSB
Puttin' On The Kids--WATL
FTV--WGCL
Dick Clark's Nitetime--WAGA
Mad Movies with the L.A. Connection--WSB
Salute--WXIA (KATN (Fairbanks))
Pensacola: Wings of Gold (starring James Brolin)--WXIA (KFXF)
Student Bodies--WAGA (KFXF)
Honey, I Shrunk The Kids--WATL (KFXF)
Out Of The Blue--Didn't check, but I'm thinking WATL (KFXF)

A few more for Atlanta:

The Crusaders--WATL (thought it was on WXIA; KATN in Fairbanks)
Thrillseekers--WAGA
Xuxa--WATL
Wide World of Kids--WSB
Les Brown--WXIA
Ron Reagan--WATL

And, I can confirm that "The Talent Agency" with Eva Longoria (now on the hit "Telenovela")...thankfully DID NOT clear Atlanta!!!! But then again, I could be proven wrong; I looked at two weeks' worth of listings for it from September 2003 and that it may have (unfortunately) ended up on The Notorious WSB after all.

Les Brown in Yakima was on KNDO (NBC). Tri-Cities KNDU (NBC). Believe he also aired on KING-5 in Seattle, but not very sure...his show only lasted a brief time in late 1993.
Xuxa was on KTZZ-22 Seattle around 1993-1994...when they were a barter indie. Ron Reagan was on KPDX-49 in Portland.

Some shows in Traverse City-Cadillac:

Ainsley Harriott - WGTU
Donny & Marie - WWTV
Forgive or Forget - WGKI (now WFQX)
Howie Mandel - WWTV
Martin Short - WPBN
Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus - WGTU

All found from the Ludington Daily News archives on Google Newspapers (scanned papers, including TV Weeks, up to 2006)

Yep, MUCH more for Atlanta/Fairbanks:

Living it Up! with Ali (Alexandra Wentworth) and Jack (Ford)--WXIA/K13XD
Sharon Osbourne--WATL/KFXF
Wayne Brady--WUPA/I want to say KFXF, but I'm not sure
Ainsley Harriott--I have yet to look at more listings from 2000, but for now, I want to say WUPA/did not air in Fairbanks (or Anchorage)
Roseanne (talk show)--WGCL
Forgive or Forget--WAGA/KATN

And yes, after further review...Atlanta did say "NO" to The Talent Agency after all, especially of course WSB (having aired the original Star Search for its entire run, including the ill-fated daily version in 1992-93).

Maybe Eva has been hooked up with Johnny the Shoe Shine guy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUx1i38Rco8

Funny - I love those Johnny the Shoe shine guy bits from Police Squad. Seriously though, you guys must be no older than your 30s. Evan Longoria is only 41, fer hevvinsake. That's really the prime decade for female beauty, IMO. Not to mention the fact that she has the benefit of make-up professionals and probably has a personal trainer. If she still looks that good at 51, maybe you can give her the Dick Clark label. Clark got the reputation for agelessness because he looked no older than 45 - well into his 60s and even 70s.

You mean EVA Longoria, she of "Desperate Housewives" and "Telenovela" is 41. Evan Longoria, the Tampa Bay Rays' third baseman, is only about 28.
