‘Saved by the Bell’ Star Dustin Diamond Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Bar Patron

‘Saved By the Bell’ Alum Dustin Diamond Convicted of Two Misdemeanors Over Stabbing Incident

No bell in the world could save Dustin Diamond from being convicted of two misdemeanors for his role in a bar room fight in Wisconsin, though the former “Saved By the Bell” star was found not guilty of a more serious felony.

A jury found the 38-year-old actor guilty of carrying a concealed weapon (Maximum Sentence: 9 months) and disorderly conduct (MS: 90 days), while he was found not guilty of recklessly endangering public safety.

Diamond found himself in legal trouble last year after stabbing a fellow patron at a bar on Christmas Day, though he claimed he never intended to hurt anyone. He testified that rowdy fans punched his girlfriend in the face and he wanted to scare them with his pocketknife. He used the weapon on 25-year-old Casey Smet, testified that he didn’t even know he had been stabbed until later in the evening, indicating the seriousness — or lack thereof — of the injury.

Christmastime is a time for traveling (often long distances) to visit family. Does Diamond have roots in Wisconsin? Was he visiting family? Otherwise, suburban Milwaukee's quite a long way from Bayside High.

He's from Northern California originally (San Jose), but he moved to the Milwaukee suburbs (Port Washington, where "Step by Step" was set) in the early 2000s, probably after "Saved the by Bell: The New Class" finished production for good in 2000.

Sounds like Frances Bavier from The Andy Griffith Show moving to Siler City, NC after meeting a couple (at Duke Univ.'s dietary clinic [Durham is about a hour from Siler City]) who invited her to move there. Wonder what lured Screech to reside in the land of Happy Days?

And Bayside High was quite a long way from John F. Kennedy Junior High School in Indianapolis, where the Disney Channel predecessor to SBTB, "Good Morning Miss Bliss" (with Hayley Mills, which was also included in the SBTB syndication package) was set. The characters of Zach, Screech and Mr. Belding would eventually transfer to high school in California. :)
