EDM coming to the FM airwaves of SA?

KXTJ is running into some transmitter problems... You may hear them testing/on and off until they get it fixed... Yesterday it was off. The other day I actually heard rock and classic rock on the channel, I wondered about that. I presume this is their engineer testing with different transmitters or something, guess he likes rock.

In short, expect more odd things until KXTJ gets on their feet. They promise to be the best for EDM in town though, so we'll see how this all plays out.

SADanceRadio.com is now PulseEDM.com. http://www.pulseedm.com/
They updated the TuneIn listing as well.

Now might be a good time for a city-wide signal operator to go after the old SADanceRadio website, and program EDM covering the whole city of SA...?

Is it stronger than before?

It's about the same as it was last time I heard it. Remember this is an LPFM so good range will be only a few miles at best, even at max height and power allowed by the FCC. To my knowledge Energy is maxed out.

So, 96-9 is dance music on one side of town and oldies on the other? Should be fun when the atmospheric conditions kick in. Gonna scare some old folks looking for Crystal Gayle and finding The Crystal Method...

LP FM isn't really affected by atmospheric conditions, is it? I've never heard an LP FM station coming in during tropo, e-skip, or anything. I think this is due to LP FM's limited power and height.

Either way you did have a point after all, Purple. It would seem this co-channel format division in SA wasn't lost with San Antonio Public Safety Alliance. EDM is off the air in town for now, as they have flipped KXTJ-LP again. This time the format seems to be a rather broad mix of classic hits, oldies, and some disco. It's now branded as "Oldies 96-9", according to the liner I heard earlier.
I think it makes sense to do this, though, with KPPC sharing the channel and playing the same stuff.
Both stations are good stations, and I didn't notice any audio problems earlyer when checking them out.

I still like EDM though, and hope that perhaps someone else gives the format a try. But would it work well in San Antonio on a full-power stick? That's the question.

It's technically possible but highly unlikely.

He's talking about an LPFM, jras, not a translator. It is indeed possible. I mean, I've caught KCYB-LP at my house, and it shouldn't even come close from where it originates. It all depends on the weather.
