American Sports Network launching as a diginet

From the American Sports Network:

"Mon., Jan. 11 will be historic day in sports tv as ASN launches new, 24/7 network"

americansportsnet.com/6633

I note that these people apparently have no idea how digital subchannels are identified to viewers.

They listed all ten of their charter affiliates only by subchannel (no primary channel identification).

Come Monday morning, any viewer who is actually aware of this network's existence will be frantically rescanning with their digital receiver trying to find it.

This seems to be done only to do things; to finally put the ZUUS Country deal out of its misery (nearly all of them are taking out Sinclair's few remaining ZUUS subchannels), and to give a full-time space to ASN in the markets where maneuvering with Get or Grit isn't possible.

At least they're trying, although their "classic" flag to old games that had sub-thousand viewers the first time is good for a chortle.

Except that Sinclair was not their only carriage, if you will check the network grid at RabbitEars.

It's pretty much the death knell though; once Journal dumped TheCoolTV after filing their non-payment lawsuit, MGH-Scripps, LIN and Sinclair threw it off their air the first moment, and Nexstar didn't even let the ink dry on the Newport acquisition before pulling it off those stations. Without a miracle, ZUUS is stuck in the self-created low-power hell Retro finds itself in now.

Great for those who are fans of the Conferences they carry AND are located in one the carriage cities.
For a couple years I've been saying the one thing missing from subchannels is sports. I've wondered if something similar to the basic weather stations that popped up a few years ago, except w/ sports score scrolls and highlight reels, would fly. My wife's parents are very old school and don't have internet and aren't able to get cable. I know her dad would love a channel w/ up to the minute scores.

Looks to be more of a SPORTS SYNDICATION SERVICE than anything as Altitude Sports & Entertainment (The RSO CABLE channel) is listed (Among many others) as carrying its programming

Cheers & 73 :)
