Morning shows lose 350k viewers in the last year

Don't watch morning TV much, but when I do, it's CBS This Morning. GMA and Today seem too celebrity driven. I wonder if local TV morning shows are pulling slightly from the big 3.

It might help somewhat if our election cycle was not two years long.

Yes indeed...trying to become the nominee of one of the two major parties is drawing this out much too long.

And maybe, just maybe, people are sick of celebrity gossip masquerading as news.

All very good points. Then there are people like myself who are sick and
tired of hearing the word "outrage" or "outraged" in the opening description
of news stories. People's outrage is not news but a biased description of
what the news organizations hope will sell.

In Canada, it's six weeks long. But the CBC still spends months and months obsessing about the US election. Apparently, the media like wall-to-wall election cycles. Fills a lot of time. And in the US, generates a lot of spot sales. With other advertisers jumping ship, especially in radio, media would be in a world of hurt without political advertising. Politicians and preachers are the only ones left with much faith in advertising's effectiveness.
