TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

‘Rosewood’ Canceled By Fox After Two Seasons

Fox has started clearing its shelves as it is getting ready to pick up new series. The network has pulled the plug on crime drama Rosewood after two seasons.

Rosewood, starring Morris Chestnut and Jaina Lee Ortiz, was a success story when it launched in fall 2016 with little fanfare but drew solid ratings as a Wednesday night 8 PM anchor leading to Empire and landed an early Season 2 renewal.

But this past fall, Rosewood was moved to Thursdays where it struggled away from Empire’s halo. The series was eventually moved to the low-trafficked Friday night. In its second season, it averaged a very modest 3 million viewers and a 0.7 Live+same day 18-49 rating.

‘Sleepy Hollow’ Canceled By Fox After Four Seasons

There will not be another last-minute reprieve for Sleepy Hollow as Fox has canceled the supernatural drama series after four seasons.

Sleepy Hollow, inspired by Washington Irving’s story, had been heavily on the bubble for a second straight year. Last year, it eventually was renewed for a fourth season, which marked a new chapter for the show following the shocking exit of female lead Nicole Beharie whose character Abbie was killed off in the Season 3 finale. Also, after relocating to the low-trafficked Friday night midway through Season 3, Sleepy Hollow remained on Friday for its fourth season, which made its battle for survival even tougher.

Sleepy Hollow was a surprise, with the pilot coming much stronger than anyone expected and the series becoming a breakout hit when it launched in fall 2013. The drama started to lose steam in its second season, ending up on the fence for renewal in Seasons 3 and 4. But, because of its pedigree and globally recognizable title, Sleepy Hollow was a strong international seller for Fox sibling 20th Century Fox TV.

‘Timeless’ Canceled After One Season on NBC

NBC has canceled freshman drama series “Timeless” after one season, TheWrap has learned.

The Abigail Spencer-led time travel drama was considered a bubble show but had amassed a passionate fanbase.

The series centers around a mysterious criminal, who steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine, intent on destroying America as we know it by changing the past.

No political comments please.

‘Last Man Standing’ Canceled By ABC After 6 Seasons

It was considered the perfect sitcom for the Trump era, hitting ratings highs in its sixth season. But that didn’t save Last Man Standing from cancellation.

ABC has opted not to renew the long-time Friday 8 PM anchor for Season 7.

With a central character who is a political conservative and devout Christian adhering to traditional American values, the show appeals to viewers in the Heartland, a constituency that helped elect Donald Trump as president and has been energized post-election as evidenced by the ratings success of new USA drama Shooter.

i wonder what show's next to get "purged" on the list of low rated TV show to make room for new shows. my best bet is on "The Last Man on Earth" on Fox as a couple of weeks ago, former SNL star Will Forte, the show's star and creator announced on twitter that the show was on the bubble and he demanded the fans of that show to save it by watching it on it's Sundays at 9:30 PM ET after Family Guy slot. plus the show is slowly losing it's steam as we all know all the characters of the show are doomed anyway (which this show is a apocalyptic comedy about a group of survivors who were pretty much survived a deadly outbreak of a virus which wiped out almost all of life on Earth, in the early episodes, the main character was originally thought to be the last man on earth, hence the show's title. then he meets with more survivors along the way) as they are all either gonna die from anything ranging from a virus, bad weather, bad food/water, radiation poisoning from nuclear fallout due to unmanned nuclear power plants having meltdowns, fires going out of control due to no humans being able to contain it, ETC.

Sorry that 'Last Man Standing' didn't make the cut. I'll miss that show.

Me too. Although I am the opposite of the lead character in almost every way I really enjoyed the political banter. And, as the father of both boys and girls the ongoing gender battles were very good, and understandable, as well. And it goes without saying I really liked the cast.

I never did figure out why the show was put on Friday nights though.

‘American Crime’ Canceled By ABC After 3 Seasons

John Ridley’s American Crime left it all out on the field. After three acclaimed seasons, the crime drama has been canceled, with ABC opting not to order a fourth installment.

The news is not surprising, the most recent third season drew minuscule linear ratings. Still, ABC brass reportedly tried to figure way to do a short, possibly 6-episode fourth season. That is no longer in the cards.

American Crime, starring Felicity Huffman, and Timothy Huffman and Regina King, has earned a slew of Emmy nominations, winning for King. It was the most decorated broadcast series on the air.

Powerless Cancelled at NBC

NBC has lost its lust for Powerless.

The superhero-adjacent comedy — which was pulled from the network’s Thursday night schedule last month — has formally been cancelled.

Two episodes of the show’s original 13-episode order still have yet to air — including a guest spot from TV’s original Batman, Adam West. It’s unclear when (or if) those episodes will air.

Fox Cancels ‘Son of Zorn,’ ‘Making History,’ ‘APB’
http://www.thewrap.com/fox-cancels-son-zorn-making-history-apb/

looks like The Last Man on Earth gets another season then, unless Fox's not done with the pre-upfronts purge yet.

sorry to see both Son of Zorn and Making History get canceled, but in a way, i had a feeling both shows were one and done in terms of seasons. Making Hisotry's problem was they focus more on multi-episode arcs and not one episode where they travel back to a different time everyweek. and Son of Zorn was just not that funny to begin with, only a couple of jokes here and there and boom, show's canceled instantly, at least it made it to it's season finale (and de facto series finale) instead of getting pulled after 2 or 3 episodes and be canceled.

That didn't take long for Imaginary Mary. Wasn't a great show, but it was good to see Jenna Elfman again post-Dharma & Greg. I wonder what ABC will throw on Friday nights now. Special encores of 20/20?
Last Man Standing was OK. Wasn't as funny as Home Improvement however. Dr. Ken was also OK, but ratings were low.
CBS' 'Mom' is safe through 2018. I don't like 'The Great Indoors' whatsoever. Haven't laughed once since that show premiered. Same with Superior Donuts. 2 Broke Girls is on the fence, may or may not come back for another season.

Yeah - I like Jenna Elfman, and think she's alluring and talented. But she can't seem to catch a break lately. She should probably cut her losses, and try to join an established ensemble-type show. Ted Danson did it, and it worked for him.
