They preempted that for this?

All local stations have preempted the networks where I have lived WWMT when they had the Tigers from 80's to the mid 90's & breaking news or severe weather. Wood TV preempted Olympic Volleyball when their was a tornado warning for about 90 minutes it seem.

I don't know about NBC but I can't recall WXLV in the Winston-Salem NC area pre-empting anything on ABC. WSOC-TV in Charlotte has always been bad about airing shows such as "9 Investigates", "Health Digest", High School Football previews, Prepare for severe weather, and "Gimme the Mike Charlotte" (local "American idol" type show).

"Gimme the Mike" that was produced at KTVU Fox 2 when Cox owned the San Francisco Fox Affiliate. They placed that show on the weekends at that time.

WVIT-TV channel 30 of New Britain, CT (Hartford/New Haven market) is an NBC O&O. I don't really see them preempting much programming.

KNDO/KNDU has been preempting the 2nd run of Millionaire this week at 11:30am (which is NEW). Monday they aired the fall preview special and now today they are running some preempted E/I show. Oh and by the way, no make-good for the 2nd run. While E/I needs to be made-good per FCC rules due to sports, the fall preview special didn't need to air...since they have cleared it on at least one weekend.
Hurricane Irma coverage yesterday preempted Wake Up Northwest...to their Facebook page! Nah, they couldn't have just put the local morning show on SWX...

Now KNDO's 11:30am Millionaire preempted for a LifeLock infomercial today. The TV listings say otherwise.

Looks like Millionaire will no longer air a 11:30 show, just the 11am. Hot Bench was moved to 11:30 effective yesterday. Wendy Williams moved to 2PM so KNDO could air a double-run of the new DailyMailTV show at 3-4pm.

Yes, that would be annoying, and disappointing, but certainly not inexplicable or confusing. To quote Tom Cruise, "Show me the money!"

This is another case of a pre-emption perhaps not being inexplicable, but inexcusable.

On the other hand pre-empting for Trump's UN speech probably was justified.

Since I'm not a DWTS fan, I didn't witness this bulletin for myself, but the FB page for my local Sinclair-operated ABC affiliate, WICS-20.1 Springfield (with repeater WICD-15.1 Champaign) is lighting up with complaints on why the station interrupted part of Dancing With the Stars tonight for a severe weather break-in. The warning was for the far southwestern corner of their viewing area, southwestern Macoupin Co., IL (about 50 miles SW of Springfield). Closer to St. Louis than Springfield, and an area where WICS may actually have few viewers despite KDNL. However, the cell, although it has weakened, was heading northeast and could affect the Springfield area if it still holds together:

Not many DWTS fans were happy, however--and probably would still be unhappy even if the storm was impacting Springfield during the show.
