MSNBC’s Joy Reid under fire for anti-gay blog posts

yeah, i have a feeling she's about to get fired soon, and possibly a pre-fire suspension where the suspension is basically firing someone without the actual "you're fired" coming until a few days later after they investigate to determine if the person has earned their firing.

I don't like Joy Reid not buying her story that she was hacked she got exposed I wonder if ad companies will pull there ad's?

Damn This is crazy

The MSNBC host released a new statement on Friday, "apologizing again" for her past writing, and the network backed her up.

MSNBC is backing Joy Reid, even as more of her controversial, offensive blog posts have been resurfaced.

The cable network issued a statement of support for Joy Reid on Friday, coupled with a new apology from the host about her past blog posts. However, she did not take ownership of a new set of posts allegedly written by her more than a decade ago.

"Some of the things written by Joy on her old blog are obviously hateful and hurtful," the network said Friday. "They are not reflective of the colleague and friend we have known at MSNBC for the past seven years. Joy has apologized publicly and privately and said she has grown and evolved in the many years since, and we know this to be true."

In her own, lengthy statement, Reid said she's "sincerely apologizing again" for her past writings, which are alledged to include homophobic blog posts.

"While I published my blog, starting in 2005, I wrote thousands of posts in real time on the issues of the day," Reid said in part. "There are things I deeply regret and am embarrassed by, things I would have said differently and issues where my position has changed. Today I’m sincerely apologizing again."

Reid continued: "I’m sorry for the collateral damage and pain this is causing individuals and communities caught in the crossfire."

What is this Roseanne is somehow the Harvey Weinstein of rants that sparked this go after the ranters issue. Sure Alex Jones and Trump have a larger history of rants but we are seeing 3 female broadcast all get targeted by various political groups and get called out for their rants and I say this is going to turn into a metoo movement over people who make rants on twitter and in public.

Another controversial post from MSNBC host Joy Reid's now-defunct blog was unearthed late Thursday, adding to pressure on the network and its anchor to offer an explanation.

The post includes sharp criticism of CNN's Wolf Blitzer for being "a former flak for American Israeli Public Affairs Committee" (AIPAC) while accusing the veteran anchor of not hiding "his affinity for his Israeli guests, or his partisanship for their cause."

The Blitzer post, which was discovered by The Federalist — a conservative online publication — on Thursday comes one day after BuzzFeed found a post on Reid's old blog that showed a photoshopped image of Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) head on the body of the shooter who carried out the mass shooting at Virginia Tech that killed 32 people.

"With the Israeli ambassador, Blitzer was solicitous, even posing the incredible question of ‘what can we do’ about the deteriorating situation," reads the Reid blog post from 2005.

"We??? Would that be we Israelis or we in the United States, Wolf? Mr. Blitzer, a former flak for the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) — though you’d never know it from his CNN bio — has consistently carried on that job in another form in his capacity as CNN host," it continues.

"He doesn’t even try to hide his affinity for his Israeli guests, or his partisanship for their cause, while turning instantly to prosecutorial mode when questioning any guest who has the dumb luck to be an Arab or Muslim in King Blitzer’s court," the post adds.

Reid, the host of "AM Joy" on weekends on MSNBC and a rising star at the network, responded to the post on Friday, saying, "Today I’m sincerely apologizing again."

Update Joy Reid is being called out for being an Alex Jones type person

MSNBC host Joy Reid encouraged readers of her now-defunct blog to watch an infamous 9/11 conspiracy documentary, according to recently discovered posts shared with BuzzFeed News.

A March 22, 2006, post to her weblog, Reidblog, archived by the Wayback Machine and titled “The official story,” links to Loose Change 9/11, a viral 80-minute web video originally released in 2005. Loose Change, which was produced in part by Infowars’ Alex Jones, alleged that the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center were in fact planned by the US government. The central claims in Loose Change have been widely debunked.

“The fundamental question is: do you believe the official story of 9/11?” the post reads. “If you do, great. If you don't, then everything that happened after that is called into serious question. Even if you're agnostic, or you tend to believe that al-Qaida attacked the World Trade Center and Pentagon and that the government had no warning such a thing could happen, it's worth taking a second look.”

Neither Reid nor MSNBC responded to requests for comment.

The Loose Change post isn’t the only skepticism on her blog about the attacks that killed 3,000 people. In a March 2006 post titled “Flashback: September 30, 2001,” Reid’s blog notes that the US government identified the plotters suspiciously soon. It then repeats common truther questions about the collapse of the WTC 7 building, which was not hit by an airplane.

“For that matter, why did any of the WTV [sic] buildings fall...?” Reidblog states. “Somehow I think it will be a generation before we get the full story on what happened on 9/11?”

Reid has come under fire over the past six months after internet researchers surfaced other posts from the blog, several of which are anti-gay. The AM Joy host initially apologized for the posts last December, but in April claimed that hackers had inserted separate anti-gay posts into her decade-old blog. But the rising progressive star was forced to admit that she could not substantiate this claim after news reports called into question the validity of the evidence her private cybersecurity expert provided.

MSNBC and representatives for Reid have both pointed to an ongoing federal investigation into the hacking allegation to defer more questions about the host’s claims.

While it's unclear who initiated this investigation, BuzzFeed News reported earlier in May that Reid’s cybersecurity expert, Jonathan Nichols, has previously given information to the FBI that led to an investigation that a source closely familiar with FBI investigations characterized as a waste of time.

Except that all of these comments are over ten years old. Jones is still saying his rants now.

Well the problem here is that you have three people in broadcasting this week being called out for their rants from Roseanne, Samantha Bee and now Joy Reid. note this is my speculation this is going to turn into a #metoo type movement but this time its about broadcasters who believe in conspiracy theories and who make rants.

Alex Jones of course have been on top of this list for his conspiracy beliefs. Only question here is how many more celebrities will get called out for their rants besides cable talk show pundits and yes the president.

Except that all of these comments are over ten years old. Jones is still saying his rants now.

The issue is not about the many anti-gay, anti-semitic, anti-immigrant and nutso conspiracy theories blog posts (many made less than 10 years ago) but is in the last month or so she lied and said that her blog was hacked, and got the FBI involved, she can get in serious trouble for lying to the FBI/making a false report. If she just apologized after when her blog post were uncovered this would be a story one day tops.

Interesting, CNN's Brian Stelter reported that this isn't a big deal to Reids fans. I don't think her ratings are all that great but it's doubtful it will effect her ratings much even if its a blow to her and MSNBC's credibility.
