Sirius XM Reports Sales Jump for Political Channels (Patriot, Progress, POTUS)

An Inside Radio article says Progress (liberal talk) has seen a 50% jump in ad sales during the Trump Administration. There were also increases in ad sales for Patriot (conservative talk) and POTUS, the non-partisan political channel.

I sometimes wonder, how does Sirius XM count its listeners? Sure, the subscriber count is easy. But how does the service figure out its music channels? I've been a longtime Sirius subscriber and no one has ever asked me what I want to hear. The 800 subscriber number does listen if you have a comment about the music channels, but who knows if anyone important ever sees the feedback?

The talk and sports channels have advertisers, who probably want to see ratings info. Look at Fox News Headlines, which must be an expensive channel to run, considering it has anchors on duty 24/7 and must also have a support staff. All-News is not a cheap format. I wonder how the sales staff goes out and sells these spoken word channels?

This might not bare much similarity to their satellite listenership,
but they can measure their web listenership accurately.

I enjoy POTUS especially Chris Cuomo. I have just picked up streaming so I can hear that and the music channels at home. I don’t listen to local radio anymore unless it’s HD2. Way too many commercials.
