What was WHDH supposed to do with "Archie"? It was an hour show and WHDH was committed to a newscast leading into its ratings powerhouse candlepin bowling block.

As for "Wacky Races" on two Providence channels, "This Week in Pro Football" was a one-hour show, but the WJAR schedule shows it as a half-hour. This looks like an error in the original editing of the WJAR schedule -- it makes more sense for a football highlights show to lead into bowling (most likely the syndicated show from Akron, Ohio) and then into live AFL football then to break up the sports block with a children's show like "Wacky Races." My guess is that only Channel 12 was running "Wacky Races."

With "Jonny Quest" as a lead-in as the last of WSBK's kiddie programming for the day before wrestling and the afternoon movie. Note also that Channel 38 aired "Wacky Races" that morning, another show that WHDH didn't want.

Money talks and the Graham ministry was rolling in it. If their travelin' salvation show was coming to New England, it was standard operating procedure to buy time on stations in every market to try to bump up the turnout.
