Sports radio host Matt Jones fired from TV show after announcing Mitch McConnell book

https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...nnouncing-mitch-mcconnell-book/?noredirect=on

WLEX-TV has removed Sports radio host Matt Jones after the book over the senate majority leader. Note the radio outlet will continue to air Matt Jones show

Jones, who will continue to host his popular radio show that airs across Kentucky, created “Hey Kentucky!” three years ago. He was removed from hosting the show temporarily last month as he considered a Senate run. According to one person familiar with the deliberations, the campaign of Amy McGrath, another Democrat challenging McConnell in the Senate, had raised questions to WLEX about Jones hosting the show while contemplating a Senate run. Now, Jones will not return to the TV show regardless of whether he runs for public office.

Last week, Jones said he still was thinking about a Senate run in which he would take on McGrath in the primary and potentially McConnell in the general election.

BTW, now it's been announced that Matt has formed an "exploratory committee" to evaluate a possible run for the U.S. Senate.

It does make one wonder how much longer iHeart can keep him on the radio.

Jones made the wise decision to keep his lucrative radio career instead of pursuing a Senate seat he had zero chance of winning. From his perspective the publicity likely helped his ratings and, thus, his contract amount.

He's just signed a new contract and says he'll be back on the air the day after Christmas. They're also blowing up the old format on 100.5 and plan to debut something new the day after Christmas.

Hmmm.......
