WEEI shortens cast working with Joe Castiglione on Red Sox broadcasts in 2020

This could means changes for EEI's drive time "Ordway Merloni & Fauria" -- maybe Wiggie as regular sub for Lou? Or maybe a new line up entirely?

I like the "new and improved" plan for Red Sox radio broadcasts...except for one tiny little thing:

They're keeping Castiglione!:D

His longevity astounds me. His voice is still a small-market whine and he seems incapable of creating anything resembling a witty remark or a joke. But I guess he's an amiable sort who gets on well with the ownership, advertisers and Jimmy Fund, and far be it from me to wish anyone the loss of his job, so overall, the new Sox radio plan is an improvement for me, too. Primarily because Chris Berman isn't going to be part of it.

I suppose I got really spoiled back in the 1980's listening to NY Mets radio broadcasts with Bob Murphy and Gary Thorne...and later...Gary Cohen.

Speaking of Gary Cohen...once upon a time, he was the radio voice of the Pawtucket Red Sox. I always thought the Red Sox should have promoted him to the big club, instead of letting him leave for the Mets.

Too bad it wasn't a better team.
I wasn't listening because I was a Mets fan.

As a kid, I would be listening to baseball on radio with my Dad, who was a life-long Boston / Milwaukee / Atlanta Braves fan. It was one of the easiest "signal catches" for listening to whichever visiting team was playing the Mets that night...most especially the Braves.

My Grandfather pretty much did the same thing...only with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Ah......Memories:)
