CMG Radio/Houston VP/GM Krieschen Announces Retirement

Cox Media Group Radio/Houston VP/General Manager Mark Krieschen will retire from the company, effective October 23. His replacement has not yet been named. Prior to joining Cox Radio in 2005 as VP/GM of its Houston cluster, Krieschen held various positions at Tribune's WGN-AM in Chicago. By the time he was named Houston Market Manager in 2007, the stations started to receive multiple accolades and top honors, including Marconi Awards, the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the Texas Association of Broadcasters for outstanding community service.

Cox Media has announced that the GM of the Houston operations is leaving on October 23rd.

Cox Media Group has announced several promotions within its Houston and San Antonio radio teams. Johnny Chiang takes the helm as Country Format Leader in addition to his role as Director of Operations for CMG Houston. Throughout his 27-year career with CMG, Chiang has been a three-time CMA winner and a four-time Marconi winner. Other accolades include being inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2014 and Billboard's Most Influential Country Program Director in 2016. Prior to CMG, he programmed at AC KOST in Los Angeles.

"CMG has some of the greatest brands, led by some of the best program directors in Country radio," said Chiang. "I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to work even closer with this distinguished and already-successful group of talented programmers. I am deeply grateful to Tim Clarke and Steve Smith for their belief in me.

This role will be responsible for continually improving service to the many customer bases and maintaining an engaging, diverse and inclusive work environment while achieving optimum cluster performance, ratings, sales, increasing revenue, market share, profits and profit margins, while upholding the core values of the company.

Ideally, the candidate will have a track record of success in a matrixed and collaborative organization amidst a complex and changing business environment along with a proven track record of success in managing talented leaders, growing revenues, growing ratings, controlling expenses, driving profit in an engaging highly accountable workplace.

I'd like to see more of these discussion board members work in local radio. You all are very intellegent and would do a good job.
