Free AM Only-America's Best Music Airchecks!

In an earlier revision of my KKSN aircheck I had erroneously credited VOs to Chick Watkins. My own error. It's actually Ed Brand (as I concluded after listening to some 2004 airchecks somebody sent me). Funny, though, as a kid I always thought they sounded similar (even though their voices and announcing styles are completely different) but it must have been the equipment I was listening on then. I guess it had just been so many years since I had heard Chick that I continued believing it since I really had no frame of reference or comparison. References to Chick being the anouncer in the recording have since been corrected.

Hey, there are people who think Pat Fleet sounds like her predecessor (and coworker for quite a while) Jane Barbe.......

I was PD of an AM (on 1400) /super FM translator (250 Watts at 750 feet!) that ran America's Best Music.. and rather than have each jock do magic calls, stabs, return/rejoin or between song liners, I had ONE of the ABM jocks, John Gleason voice EVERYTHING. I didn't wanna have to deal with last minute changes if say someone was filling in for Carl Hampton and put the fill in jocks liners in there.. this kept the sound consistently.

I also voiced one of our 2 legal ids for the station. Here's the audio:

No, I have no other airchecks of ABM on our station.

AS an interesting side note, John Gleason spent about 2 years as the night jock at Local Radio Network's 24/7 classic country format and I followed him as overnight jock! (His since left, I think.. but I'm still there)

I just listened to the Id, and I love the jingle at the end. I'm guessing that was a Ben Freedman jingle? Thanks for sharing.

Not even close.. thats a pepper tanner cut from the 60s
