Radio Disney to be shuttered, KRDC to be sold

Seems like theyve just been playing about the same hundred songs over and over lately.
They added James Brown - I Got You (I Feel Good), Queen - We Will Rock You, Britney Spears - Lucky, Backstreet Boys - Quit Playing Games and a few other 90s cuts within the past couple days. All of them were staples on there. They leaned heavily on 60s and 70s songs until 2000 or so, thus I’m not surprised about the first two. That’s often forgotten about since they were so well known for the pop.

So far nothing on a buyer.

K-Surf just called. They’re probably found a new home (sooner than later)

If Saul (Mount Wilson Broadcasters) buys 1110 AM for K-Surf, that would be terrific.
I would love that too! 1110 AM has a pretty decent signal with it’s 50,000 watts daytime signal. Until then, enjoy the best of Radio Disney. Where else can you hear James Brown “I Got You” segue way into N’Sync “Bye Bye Bye?”

If Saul was looking to buy a station, there were some pretty cheap FMs available in the last few years.

At his age, I really don't see him spending money on radio frequencies. He's in sell-mode now.

If Saul (as he said publicly) couldn't pay the power bill for a 5,000 watt AM station with oldies, how's he (or anyone) going to pay the power bill for a 50,000 watt AM station?

1260's signal is only part of the problem. The other is demographics. It hasn't gotten better since the last time 1110 found it couldn't make money with oldies---23 years ago.

Now why are you letting demographic and economic realities get in the way of a good discussion?

Im surprised one of these religious am radio companies haven't swooped in and bought krdc. Does anybody know how much they are asking for the station? Most of the religious broadcasting companies like stations like this that cover a large area and especially in California.

What is more surprising is that Disney does not move the ESPN programming to 1110 since the new CP for 710 is definitely inferior to 1110 in every way, particularly with the 2.5 kw night power.

Or, perhaps, they plan to move once the new 710 facility is built and then sell 710.

Do you know what happened to them?
WGNR in Anderson, Indiana has a pending sale to Radio Punjab AM 1470 LLC, but Moody apparently hasn't found buyers for the others (WMBI Chicago, WDLM Moline IL) and so continues to operate them.
