WGN America begins the transition to 24/7 News.

Not much has changed in their ratings. They are getting an average of 121K viewers a week. That's the population of Yakima, Selah, and Ellensburg combined. MAJOR FAIL!
Even the name of the network is a fail. People are not spelling NewsNation as one word the way Nexstar has intended. I mean, what is it with media corporations coming up with names (like iHeartRadio) that half the people will spell wrong? Yes, I understand, those corporations want names that stand out, but still, Nexstar could do better than that.

Even Tom Skilling and the WGN News at Nine would get 100K more viewers.
I agree that Chicago local news and sports were compelling reasons for people to watch WGN America. In fact, in 2016, I tuned in to WGN America for coverage of the celebration of the Cubs' victory in the World Series. While I'm not a Cubs fan, I was happy to see them win the World Series for the first time in over a century. I enjoyed watching that sample of WGN-TV's news coverage via WGN America. I think that was the last major local event that was covered by WGN America, since most of the local programming had been eliminated in 2014.

NTD America is another new News Channel.
NTD is the Falun Gong, whose media operations have sometimes been accused of spreading disinformation, conspiracy theories, fake news, extreme right wind talking points, amongst other shenanigans. Their main thrust has been opposition to the current Chinese government. Often found on major market TV subchannels, with material available on-demand at their website.

The Falun Gong is behind The Epoch Times news site. Also has a low-power FM station here in Houston; not sure about radio elsewhere.

Tread carefully with this one and understand where the viewpoint is coming from.

What is their deal, exactly? I saw about their claims of news without censorship, and thought, "Cool, a Chinese-based network that isn't tied to the Chinese government." (I've largely avoided CGTN for that reason.) Then I saw the Falun Gong and Epoch Times tie-ins and was like, 😬.

I like the idea of an independent Chinese-centric network, but not if it's associated with a different extreme.
