OnlyFans Will Ban Pornography Starting in October, Citing Need to Comply With Financial Partners

For those unfamiliar, a number of internet models and porn actors (both amateur and well-known) had OnlyFans pages, as it seemed to be relatively simple for them to post content, people who wanted to see their videos and other postings paid a monthly subscription to do so and could also send one time "tips". OnlyFans kept 20% of the $$, while those uploading the content got the rest. It was an easy way for even amateur models with basic equipment to create and upload videos, for instance, and make money almost immediately from them. Certainly easier, faster and more lucrative for some than trying to get a contract with a major studio.

onlyfans profited from porn and now all the sudden they are ending that cause some venture (or vulture) capitalist want to buy the profiting social media platform to make it more "mainstream" friendly, the only way onlyfans will survive this is if they decide to try to cater to angry Youtube creators fed up with Google's ownership of Youtube.

what does this mean for those who work in the porn industry and those armatures who work in the sex work industry are gonna have to go to a different service to sell their sexual content or go back to working for porn companies and porn sites to make ends meat, but they will make less as the porn companies/sites will have a bigger piece of the pie (no puns were intended as meat and pie are slang terms for gentiles), it's not good for those who thought the platform was gonna be their main source of income, but today's announcement was the rude awakening that if they are gonna sell sexual content, they might as well become professional porn stars.

Yeah, it's an interesting turn of events to say the least. A site like OnlyFans that was basically best known for one particular type of content, suddenly announces they will no longer permit it. As you say, the people who relied on OnlyFans for various levels of income will find another site or company to host them.

I remember listening to a discussion one morning on I believe NPR back when OnlyFans started to become "a thing". They had a few fairly well-known adult movie (porn) actors on, basically explaining they only made several hundred dollars per scene they filmed, even from the bigger, more popular adult movie studios. If they were willing to do more risque scenes, some non-traditional "acts" or do things that could potentially risk their health, they'd make a bit more. Then, they considered a site like OnlyFans by comparison. If those same models and porn actors had thousands or in some cases tens of thousands of followers on sites like Instagram and Twitter, and if they could get even a good fraction of them to subscribe to their channel on OnlyFans at 10 or 12 bucks per month, even taking away the 20% OnlyFans collected, many of them made decent money, certainly more than they'd make working in porn, unless they were extremely prolific, appeared in several scenes and stuck around for a while.
