94.7 isn't great in much of the NYC boroughs, which has always seemed like WINS' focus.Absolutely this. Or, will Audacy blow up '94.7 The Block'? It has now dropped to 0.9 despite the new format.

iHeart could dump Alt and put KFI on 98.7, but KFI is not well targeted to the lucrative demos, probably even less so than KNX.Does anyone know if there is enough shared cume between KNX and KFI that this move might put significant pressure on iHeart for a simulcast there?
The market for actual non-car am/fm radios is absolutely horrible. There is barely anything left in b&m retail.Yes, RFI noise as always. People who are at home where there is likely to be more noise already just uses an Alexa or something, and so the people actually tuning in would probably be driving, and hence less noise. Right?
You're right about that. Luckily they've got a 40kw CP from a new site, and looking at a Longley Rice, this will do a much better job of covering all five boroughs, and even out to Whitestone.94.7 isn't great in much of the NYC boroughs, which has always seemed like WINS focus.
I'm just glad I bought my home-radios while I did, and I can even experiment around to see how I can improve my reception/listening experience. The market for actual non-car am/fm radios is absolutely horrible. There is barely anything left in b&m retail.
Years ago, Clear Channel tried simulcasting KOGO on FM in San Diego. No improvement. I think that experience and several others in smaller markets made them leery of putting talk on FMsiHeart could dump Alt and put KFI on 98.7, but KFI is not well targeted to the lucrative demos, probably even less so than KNX.
Looks like KIIS-FM will pop the champagne. This move is certainly a surprise (it was absolutely time for the bottom feeding CHR station to go, though).
If they can get good radio personalities for LA sports, perhaps. But it's not too easy building a local sports talker from the ground up, at least I don't think so.I thought all sports was much more likely.
It's still below the "building horizon" of much of Manhattan. Better, yes. But not a vast improvement. You're right about that. Luckily they've got a 40kw CP from a new site, and looking at a Longley Rice, this will do a much better job of covering all five boroughs, and even out to Whitestone.
Well... I'm not an expert. And David, who is an expert, guessed that Audacy would probably try to put KNX on FM, turned out to be right. Whether KNX-FM is successful long-term is a different question entirely and remains to be seen. I'm not entirely sure what or whom you are calling "proof" on.Proof that "the experts" are often poorly informed about these things and should be taken as no more an authority than you or me. Less than a month ago, on another thread, I predicted Audacy would make a move in LA within less than 6 months. That prediction was roundly ridiculed. Ooops!
iHeartMedia/Clear Channel aren't as masterful as Audacy/Entercom/CBS when it comes to News, Talk & Sports. Although, WBZ is now an iHeartRadio station.Years ago, Clear Channel tried simulcasting KOGO on FM in San Diego. No improvement. Me too, but the only logical way for that happen is for them to simulcast KSPN (now on KRDC), or if you are looking for local personalities, wouldn't KLAC be a good place to start?I thought all sports was much more likely.

Unfortunately, KLAC is no WFAN or WEEI. Two strong brand names.Me too, but the only logical way for that happen is for them to simulcast KSPN (now on KRDC), or if you are looking for local personalities, wouldn't KLAC be a good place to start?
It literally started a month ago. Give it time to build up enough cume and add personalities on there. It will be some time before any discussion starts in on another flip.Absolutely this. Or, will Audacy blow up '94.7 The Block'? It has now dropped to 0.9 despite the new format.
iHeart doesn't really do "all-news", WBZ notwithstanding.iHeartMedia/Clear Channel aren't as masterful as Audacy/Entercom/CBS when it comes to News, Talk & Sports. Although, WBZ is now an iHeartRadio station.
Not only that, what PBP rights are up for grabs right now? Doesn’t seem to be anything to snag.Looks like KIIS-FM will pop the champagne.

Yep, KROQ is up next And Sports is what it will be..West coast version of The Fan It's such a glaring format hole to fill in the nation's 2nd largest market. Is it really a stunner, though?
The timing is kind of weird, but the change is not. Doing it the first Monday of December with little pre-announcement or fanfare is strange though. I'm surprised they didn't run Christmas for two months and try to take some of the KOST Holiday buzz.
Regardless, I kind of like the new "Netflix" inspired ribbon font in the new KNX.
Also, while the story on KNX's site about the news says "simulcast", it's worth noting that "1070" or "AM" is no longer mentioned in the logo or website header. Whenever they update the graphics on the social networks, I bet 1070 will also be MIA.
Now that this is done.... next up, 106.7 The Fan, or at least material retooling at KROQ.
