WDYS 1480 and WCSJ 1550 on the air from new location

Just heard WDYS AM 1480 at 10:00 am CST relaying the FM station WSPY 107.1. Must be from the new transmitter site in Somonauk, Illinois for which WDYS has a CP. Signal is so much better than the STA operation with a long wire antenna in Batavia, Illinois.

WCSJ AM 1550 also has a CP to operate from the same site as WDYS, but they are not on the air right now. I have seen a report that both WDYS and WCSJ were on the air on Sunday once again relaying WSPY FM. Both station must be in the testing stage before they officially go on the air.

The tower site appears to be a field just a few yards away from the studios 1 mile west of Plano

Yeah it's about 2,000 feet away from the WSPY studios and the WSPY FM tower.

And from what ive seen, google earth and coordinates can be about 500-1000 feet off ... so its even slightly closer. The LPTV is on the same tower as WSPY FM. If it was only one AM, they could probably manage to make it work on that tower there.

WDYS and WCSJ applied for a license to cover with the FCC. Expect them on the air with regular programming soon.

I'm glad they're getting these two up and running. I've never heard WCSJ from their old tower location just south of Morris. What's now WDYS had a fair signal in Crystal Lake, which completely vanished when they went to the long wire STA. I'm anxious to hear "the finished product, for both stations

I noticed WDYS on the air this afternoon. Still with a relay of WSPY FM. No sign of WCSJ on 1550.

Does WSPY 1480 have an app so I could listen to it. I transfered down here to Florida and before last year I couldn't pick it up no more from Aurora, IL..

It's not WSPY AM anymore. Their new calls are WDYS. I searched and could not find a stream anywhere.

You can stream WSPY FM 107.1 here: WSPYFM

As for WCSJ 1550, they changed their calls to WAUR and they have been on the air fulltime since the end of May. Right now WDYS 1480 and WAUR 1550 run the same country music programming in parallel and ID as "Woody Radio 1480 and 101.5" It's most likely satellite fed programming.
