The story that I had originally heard was essentially what Rich posted. But my thanks also to David for the more complete picture That fits nicely with 25+ years of business trips to Las Vegas once or twice during most of those years. Usually my visits involved events at the convention center and a stay at the adjacent then-Hilton. That used to be a 10-15 minute cab ride from the airport. Last time I did that, the ride was about 45 minutes. Just one example of the explosive growth.

A couple who we've known since before junior high school Lived and worked in Vegas for 38 years. For most of that time they liked living there. But they eventually got fed up with the development and congestion, and moved back to the town where we all grew up. Suffice to say they're very glad they did.

Thanks again for the Hawaii SDR link. Actually what I need is the link for the map and link to the map and list of all the SDRs. I should have made that more clear. If you or someone else here can post that, I'd be much obliged. ....And thanks again!

I'm still debating whether to repair my primary laptop or buy a new one, Probably the latter. But I've got a lot going on during the next few weeks, so I may have to get by for a while on my spare machine. So I'm very glad to be able to access the SDR's on my old unit. :)

It's so annoying when a primary computer rides into the sunset.

10 days ago, my main unit lost its liquid CPU cooler, and the system shut down. With the shortage of parts, it took a while to get the right replacement, and it died after less than 12 hours. Finally got a replacement about $300 later and all was well.

In the meantime, I realized that my other computers that I use for scanning were not up to date on anything else, and the laptop was horrendously lacking in my favorite utilities. Fortunately, I save most stuff on Dropbox, so I had access to everything like ratings, emails and the like. But the incident made me realize I have to keep all the systems up to date.

Sidebar: My $600 motherboard from early 2020 is now $2200 and the $1400 Ryzen Threadripper CPU is now around $2500. And delivery times are in weeks, not days.
