An Archive of San Diego Radio Airchecks

Just wondering. Has anyone ever tried to assemble a comprehensive archive of all surviving airchecks of 20th-Century San Diego radio?

And does anyone know if there are local stations with old recordings tucked away somewhere... or are airchecks the domain of individual collectors only?

Radio stations are usually the worst at archiving their own history. Most are in the hands of individual collectors, but in the past couple of years, a lot of them have begun posting them where they can be listened to online for free or (in some cases) downloaded.








That's a start---you may be able to get more by typing specific call letters you're interested in into the search box.

Mixcloud won't allow direct links to results pages, but if you go there and type in the call letters you're looking for, there's stuff there, too.
