WSB-TV newscast temporarily preempts ‘Tamron Hall’ talk show at 3 p.m. until midterm elections

Parts of this is in relation to the midterm elections in Georgia.

Stouffer told the audience the 3 p.m. newscast will air until the midterm elections.

The extra newscast will enable WSB-TV to accommodate more political ad spending that is expected in the coming weeks focused mostly on the competitive Senate and gubernatorial races.

Money spent on nothing but attack ads. Why can't they tell me what they'll do for me as opposed to what they think their opponent is going to do to me?
I think the problem is that few people who's hearts and minds are in the best places to serve in elected office, actually want to run for political office because it's so messy. As soon as they become serious contenders, they have no more privacy and everyone is searching for any dirt they can find on them...The opposing party looks for dirt so they can beat them. Their own party looks for dirt so they can control them.

As a result, we get lots of elections where people are voting 'against' the candidate they dislike the most, rather than voting 'for' the candidate they really like or most agree with. Sad, really.

Not only that, but how much of this dirt is proven as fact and how much is simply "Take my word for it"? Either way, it seems playing on fear and anger is more important than trust and confidence.

I was wondering why they had a newscast at 3pm today. Seems like overkill considering that the midterms aren’t until Nov 8th but what do I know?

Disney or Comcast should intervene about a temporary preemption turn breach of contract. If Tegna owner of 11Alive and The ATL is being bought by a partnership of Apollo and Standard Media, then Apollo should sell their flagship Atlanta station plus WSOC Charlotte to Disney instead to reduce conflict. Paramount gets KIRO 7 and the Jacksonville Fox affiliation sold to Graham's WJXT while the WJAX-WFOX combo (the latter includes the secondary MNTV affiliation) will picked up by Gray TV.

IMO, this bloodsport politics we have now is nothing short of absolutely asinine.

So I take it thanks to the runoff we are getting another month of the 3pm WSB newscast or is this going to be a permanent change moving forward?

In the world of TV and TV news, there's no such thing as "temporary. "

Case in point...

April 2017 - WXIA adds a half-hour 7:00pm newscast on WATL. It was meant to be "temporary" for additional political ad revenue during the 2017 special election for Georgia's 6th congressional district. Guess what happened? The newscast is still running five years later and now three hours of local news from 8:00-11:00pm has added to it.

It would be shocked if Tamron or Kelly moves to Fox 5 or 11Alive/The ATL or PeachtreeTV or CW69 if WSB continues post election
