Merry Christmas and Happy holidays

Same to you 34james, I wish K Earth 101 was like it used to be, they would be playing all of those good 50s and 60s Christmas tunes, KOST is just too 80s and higher.

I tried to get KTPI, no luck, I even tried the i-heart app, oh well, I have WRCH (Hartford) on commercial free until tomorrow night, they play a wider selection than some of the many all Christmas stations around here.

I use internet radios, and it gets just about everything, (is it Audacy, Live 365, Shoutcast?) and just about every app, but I didn't get that stream on there

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and happy holiday season to all. 🎄

I tried listening to KRTH on the internet last week, and it's pretty terrible. It's very automated, robotic, apathetic, and lackadaisical. It's all voice-tracked with people who sound as if they are tiredly reading lines of script while scrolling through their phones watching tik-tok videos. They sound very disinterested in providing any entertainment. The computer selects the order of the songs ( I think), which means they often play the same song within a couple of hours, especially if the work shift ( called a "day part"?) changes.

Yes, I do understand that there are better oldies formats, like at Tune In, and I will try those. Yes, this is a strong opinion, and it's just my opinion. JMO. But in general, I think that Audacy is a huge, impersonal conglomerate, dependent upon computers. They are just mailing it in. It's like the new term "quiet quitting." They don't care.
Do I sound as if I'm getting old? Yes, I do. I have to go now and scroll through tik-toks on my phone....:p

Audacy will probably be changing their name soon, first it was CBS radio, then it was Radio.com, then it was called Entercom, now Audacy, so what's next in their roller-coaster alphabet soup adventure?

Joe.....They are so out of it, that sometimes they do the station I.D. at :57 past the hour and sometimes at :03. They are all over the place. They're not like KQED which hits the the post exactly at :00. No one hits the post like NPR. They are perfect, which is to their credit.
Even KBAY with Bobby Bones in the morning does I.D. at :59 or :01. But not Audacy. They don't care. ( Grumble, grumble). LOL.

I thought KRTH was live during the week or maybe they upload their breaks into the system a few minutes before airing? But I don't know for sure. Lara Scott(middays) and Larry Morgan(nights) have simultaneous shows on Sunny 98.1 in San Diego. Are they live on both stations or are they live in LA and voicetracked in SD or VT on both? Hopefully those with more knowledge can comment.

KRTH just did their I.D. at 8:01 PM PST. They say they're commercial-free tonight. They always sound completely automated.
No one cares about when stations do their I.D.'s, except for me, a propeller-head radio geek. LOL. 😊

8:01 is acceptable for an ID. At my station, it was allowed between 7:58 and 8:02. About 20 years ago, KRTH used to bury the legal ID in the middle of a stopset about 48 past the hour. At the top of the hour was a non legal ID that went something like : From the entertainment capital of the world(spoken by Charlie Van Dyke) K Earth 101 Los Angeles(sung).

A few stations here in the Northeast do I.D.s like :48 after, some stations like to muffle the city, for instance WPGC is a big D.C. urban station, but they're licensed to Morningside, MD. they don't want you to hear that, they want you to think Washington D.C. not some small Maryland town most people never heard of.

Kind of like WKTU Lake Success- New York. No one can understand the Lake Success-part.

I remember them doing that as WTFM 103.5 in Lake Success (boy am I old) they were a "beautiful music" station then, and when I heard Lake Success, I thought that it was a scenic lake somewhere upstate, lo and behold it's part of New York City (Queens) why did the FCC grant them that designation instead on NYC (beats me)

Yes, 8:01 is perfectly fine. That's considered on time. I should have clarified my remarks by writing that KRTH is on time tonight. 😊

One more oddity about WKTU, they were originally at 92.3 and they I.D. New York City, they moved to 103.5, took that frequency and I guess they had to keep the Lake Success moniker (who knows?)
