‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ Is Toxic Behind the Scenes, Staffers Say

This is being played out in the same way the Ellen Show was exposed of having when producers and directors are accused of having a toxic workplace.

Im worried does it affect the show since it will move to NBC's HQ in 30 Rock NY

Isn't this like deja vu The Tonight Show With Jay Leno all over again, with a world-class "toxic person" (his agent?) as producer for its first couple of years? Leno himself wasn't blamed either.

Yep, Helen Kushnik. Actually, she not only ran Leno's show with a lot of toxicity, but she also angered guests who appeared on the show as well as NBC brass and management. In the end, if I recall correctly, it was the NBC execs who got rid of her after only a few months of her reign at The Tonight Show..She was that much of a witch and that difficult and disagreeable to work with. Leno, on the other hand, felt some allegiance to Kushnik because she supposedly "discovered" him when he was an unknown standup comedian working in clubs, she became his manager and she stayed with him all the way through his time at The Tonight Show.

Kelly Clarkson addressed the issue herself but from there that depends on how NBC management + legal team specifically responds to the allegations since they own the rights to the talk show. This is like when we had to wait for WB management + legal team to respond to the allegations surrounding Ellen DeGeneres production team being toxic.

Kelly Clarkson has responded after employees on her talk show said it was a toxic workplace.

On Friday, Rolling Stone published a story detailing claims from 11 current and former employees of "The Kelly Clarkson Show" that they were underpaid and overworked behind the scenes.

Several sources in the piece, which did not name any workers, said Clarkson herself was not aware of the workplace issues. Representatives for Clarkson and "The Kelly Clarkson Show" did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Clarkson appeared to confirm that the article was the first time she'd heard about employees' grievances.

Yes NBC owns the Talk show.

A representative for The Kelly Clarkson Show is pushing back on allegations of a toxic work environment behind the scenes of the talk show.

"We are committed to a safe and respectful work environment and take workplace complaints very seriously and to insinuate otherwise is untrue," reads a statement to PEOPLE from a spokesperson for NBCUniversal.

The statement continues, "When issues are reported they are promptly reviewed, investigated and acted upon as appropriate. The Kelly Clarkson Show strives to build a safe, respectful and equitable workplace that nurtures a culture of inclusivity and creativity."

Apparently some of the whistleblowers allege that EP Alex Duda is one of the people behind a toxic work environment. But that is to be verified in lawsuits where NBC is sued over this specifically.

The sources, who are reportedly veterans of entertainment and daytime television, recognized the high-pressure environment of such productions but traced the toxic, behind-the-scenes environment to executive producer Alex Duda, who is said to have shielded Clarkson from the byproducts of the behavior.
“I think Alex Duda’s a monster,” a former employee said. “I have a friend who’s an executive producer who warned me about taking this job, because apparently she has done this on every show she’s worked on.”

Some lower-level staffers shared that they have other jobs in addition to working on the show to supplement their income, like Uber Eats, walking dogs and babysitting. A divide between employees favored by executive and senior producers and those who aren’t was also described.

Here is our thread when we said similar stuff about the Ellen Show having the same allegations Kelly Clarkson production crew is facing.
