Amazon and NFL hoping to establish a tradition with the first Black Friday game

At least the Dolphins have a winning record. The game will also by seen over the air in New York and Miami. Fox 5 New York is representing the Jets. They are sticking with regular programming before the game, farming the FOX College contests to My 9. The Dolphins will be represented by CBS Miami, who will be spending the day hyping then showing the game....except for the two hours where they simulcast Iowa vs Nebraska with Miami 33.
 
Whose decision was it for Amazon to make the telecast free for all to watch: Amazon's or the NFL's? Will this freebie be offered again next year, or is the NFL OK with a significant number of fans being shut out because, for whatever reason, they don't patronize Amazon? If today's game were on ABC, ESPN or even the NFL Network, would its viewership be greater than it would be behind an Amazon paywall?

If that really was a problem, they would not have done such a deal in the first place. The way they handle it is the game was on broadcast TV in the two local markets: NY & Miami. Yes the game didn't require an Amazon Prime membership. However, you had to log into Amazon itself to see the game. Same with the Garth concert afterwards.

This will become a bigger factor as teams do deals with streamers that require membership. As broadcasters have less money for such rights, the leagues will instead go to Apple, Google, and Amazon.

Probably because many of the Thursday games weren't compelling. Thursday games are a bad idea (other than Thanksgiving). Still, the NFL wants more Prime Time games. Player safety is irrelevant. Nobody should play on 3 days rest...
