Raul Brindis fired?

Raul had a very different contract he owns his show, the name, the brand, the studio all that was and is his and not Univisions.
He owns the studio equipment, but not the real estate. He likely will have to remove it.

Did his ratings get bad enough that his show was now outranked by the other shows on KLTN? Or was he still the top attraction at a station now in decline?
The rest of the day did much better.

Do you think a noncompete even matters to Univision? I really doubt it he's just gonna be free and clear. I'm assuming there's a lot of money tied to his brand even though the ratings weren't the best.
Brands are only of value if the deliver audience. The show no longer did that.

I don't listen to his show to be able to confirm, but it's been said on this board that he had started to take a lot more breaks and leave the show to his cohosts, which could certainly explain a decline for the shows ratings. If Univision did fire him and he didn't leave on his own, that definitely seems like a possible reason for them to be fed up and cut ties.

I've seen this movie before with bigger names like Piolin and Cucuy. I really doubt univision didn't have a common contractual obligation/non-compete agreement payout
terms, performance obligations, penalties, termination. Cucuy was the Howard Stern of spanish radio , with studios, Bodyguards, personal chauffeurs and cooks around the univision/Hbc building in Burbank and had to sit out before going to SBS KLAX. I'm not trying to be rude but Raul doesn't come near the power Cucuy and Piolin had. Raul is more like a pistolero from WOJO Chicago. Pistolero disappear off the face of the earth after leaving WOJO.

Raul had probably the longest-running morning show in Houston.. I can't thank of anyone on the air for over 30 years! The part about Raul being absent more is false.. In the older days or before COVID-19 raul would pre-rec December (JUST LIKE BMF DOES) or during his PTO they would run an older show or record in the last few years he would just let his team cover for him and recently he built a studio at home so he would not come to the station but would still do the show. This was more about the company wanting to impose on his show and he walked out tired of it.

From what I heard from people that know people 😂.

Raul Got Fired and so did Mario El Borrego. 🐑 don’t know anything Pedro Reyes.

HBC never had a building in Burbank.

Renán ("El Cucuy") did not have bodyguards, although he did sometimes run deep with his crew. He never had a driver and nobody at HBC ever had a cook. There was a dedicated "morning show" studio but it was not private to Renán only.

He had to sit out some time because he was fired for locking himself in the studio and insulting management (Jerry Perenchio was called a "dirty old man" and I was called an "ass kicker" for example) on the air. It took a few minutes to get an engineer to "patch out" the studio but not before he said a bunch of nastiness while barricading himself and his crew in the studio...

He is now doing a morning show at an FM in a tiny market in Michoacán, México. The city is so small I had never heard of it and I've traveled to all but 2 of the states in México when I was doing consulting for Rogerio Azcárraga there.

But in his South Texas market, he was far more dominant in the ratings in the diary era than either Renán or Piolín were.

I am familiar with both. I hired Piolín in 1993 to do mornings on KWIZ where I was PD and OM. I hired Renán away from my ex-employer Lenard Doberman in 1998 to move to KSCA. Of all the dozens of morning people I have worked with, those are the only two I would not give a huge "abrazo" to if I ran into them on the street.

I discovered Pistolero with the help of excellent PD José Santos when he was at a station in Fresno. The move to Chicago was too "empowering " and personal issues made his move from Chicago to LA unsuccessful. I have no idea where he is now... when he was in Fresno, he was maybe the most sincere and magnetic personalities I ever dealt with.

I could say that personal issues are greater than all others combined in the failure of on-air talents. Whether it is drinking or drugs or sex addiction or personal issues like spending more than they made or having too many simultaneous lovers, it's more often things like that and not a lack of talent that condemns many.

Raúl Bryndis is one of the most solid, level headed talents I have worked with. Keep in mind, as I have said, that he has a university degree in engineering and is a really bright person.

You know, it is pretty usual for management to step in when a show that used to get 8 and 9 shares goes down to the 2 share level.

well you forgot to mention that pistolero was originally suppose to be the morning show for 94.1 Dallas

He was originally hired by HBC to do mornings under José Santos at WOJO in Chicago. Are you aware that I was the one who drove to Fresno to hire him for HBC, and in the process found Chiquibaby in the same market? I placed Stephanie in San Diego under the guidance of Josh Villa.

Apparently people are starting to find out about Raul being fired. I was reading comments on facebook and many are saying his wife had a lot to do with him being fired. Not saying I believe she had anything to do with it. But I’m just giving you examples of the comments

I speak no Spanish. I do not follow much in the way of Houston morning ratings anymore. But I will say this, back in the day, I saw that dude *in action* and he was a bona fide STAR. One of the bigger local radio stars I think I ever saw. Walked it. Talked it. Looked it. Lived it. He was impressive to observe.

He will be history soon, just Like Piolin is only recognized in California, Raul will be here in Texas
