Welcome back Larry. The radio dial needs more strong black voices such as his. He has excelled in LA afternoon drive on a major talk station before and I am sure he will do so again.
As long as this means he won't try another disastrous run at being governor, I'm happy.
Not disasterous at all. He informed and educated many in that role, those that would not be listeners of talk radio. I am sure he has no regrets about his run; he knew the odds were heavily against him.As long as this means he won't try another disastrous run at being governor, I'm happy.
I happened to hear the tail end of his show yesterday on KNUS (Denver). He comes across as a whiny little creature, searching far and wide for a grievance to latch onto.As long as this means he won't try another disastrous run at being governor, I'm happy.

Entertainers should stay out of politics.
And yet, it worked for Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, Clint Eastwood and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I'm not saying they don't get elected. They do, based on their name recognition. Therein lies the problem.
There are people on this board---on this thread---who would argue that Reagan was one of the country's greatest presidents, that Schwarzenegger's environmental accomplishments and support of gay marriage made him a good governor, and that Sonny Bono and Clint Eastwood were very good as mayors for the small cities they served (Palm Springs and Carmel, respectively).
I agree about Reagan. Assuming they were alive and the same age as when they were elected, Clint and Sonny could easily win mayoralty races in their towns. They all pre-date the current reality TV syndrome we're in now. None of those people would get elected today.
For the reasons you give. They were focused on service, not entertaining.
And many more if we look beyond CA: Professional wrestler Jesse Ventura served as the 38th governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003. He ran as part of the Reform Party. And yet, it worked for Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, Clint Eastwood and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Arnold? A wild card. But he has infinitely higher name recognition than any of the people running for Governor of California in 2026.

The only thing you can judge from Tommy Tuberville is…Tommy Tuberville.I'm trying to think of a recent celebrity who would be considered a great elected official. Tommy Tuberville?
I was told we were not to discuss politics on this board. Tommy Tuberville has nothing to do with LA Radio. The only thing you can judge from Tommy Tuberville is…Tommy Tuberville.
