No Sale Looming, ESPN 98.7 expected to pivot to Music

I would have thought that GK would keep broadcasting on 98.7 until the end of their contract, even if just to use it as a "barker channel" informing listeners to tune in ESPN New York on 880 .
I wonder now if new programming will start on the 23rd or just leave it in radio silence for a week

I'm beginning to think that there should be a radio station whose format is devoted to betting on changes at other radio stations.
Imagine how high the odds would be for formats like Country, Alternative or EDM compared to many other formats in New York. Something like 20:1, 50:1, 99:1?

How about the New York Yankee Purchasing 98.7 FM. They can bring along the Nets. They can carry the Jets. Some Yes programming can be simulcast on radio. New Conferences etc... The NY Yankees supposedly were in pursuit a little while back of a radio station. I know they have re-upped with the WFAN. All contacts are meant to be broken. Audacy is in deep with this bankruptcy etc. Example selling a 50KW. to your competition. I know it is for 3 years
but do we know how the contract is written about re-upping? Who has the right to first refusal?

And lose most of their coverage footprint. Why would they do that.
