SBE Auctioning New York City Radio History for Scholarship Fund

The Society of Broadcast Engineers is auctioning off 14 unique pieces of radio broadcast history – antenna elements from the original Alford Antenna system that once served 16 of New York City’s FM radio stations from the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building.

I really want one, but likely can't even afford the shipping.

Based on the one I have had in my backyard for a few years now, I suspect you'd be looking at perhaps $150-200 to crate it and ship it.

If you're serious about getting one, it's likely that I will be at the SBE 15 meeting where they can be picked up, and I could make arrangements to ship it from NJ.

Interestingly, the only place I expressed interest in an ESB antenna element is here. And today, someone submitted a high dollar amount bid under my name but with the wrong address and telephone number!

Did I p--ss of someone so badly that they falsified a bid under my name as a prank?
