WMVP AM 1000 Transmitter

Unless there are specific conditions attached to a construction permit, a licensee can generally begin operating under its CP facilities once a license to cover application is filed. You don't have to wait for it to be granted.
WMVP License to Cover from the WCPT Joliet site has been granted as of 5/30/2025.

I wish someone had done a video. Sad to see a tower come down, but the sort of thing most of us will... hopefully... never see in person.

Was that a demolition company doing the collapse of the towers? It looks like they are going to cut the highest guy first, which is usually wrong. Every crew I have worked with starts with the lowest guy, which will cause the tower to collapse under the pull of the higher guys. Cutting the top guy first will create an uncontrollable collapse since the top section can fall unpredictably on the lower guys.

Here is the video of the 490FT center tower coming down. Not sure who was handing the demo. Wasn't really publicly announced. Just a rumor it was happening on June the 2nd.

Here is a Youtube video with one of the towers coming down. It's the on the right in my avatar picture:

For people wondering about the call letters on the building: only 2 were retrieved from the rubble and will be donated to a museum in Springfield. the other call letters are long gone as a result of being buried.

I was wondering what happened to Archie Bunker's Lazy Boy recliner.
It's now in my office where I can pull a rolling table over it and work on WorldRadioHistory.

Now what we need are photos of the WMVP equipment and installation at the WCPT site in Joliet IL. Only pictures of this site that are in existence are of the WCPT equipment probably dating back to 2009 or so. I believe there is a separate building for WMVP that was built but have not seen it yet or the equipment installed inside of it.

Everything that could've been moved (and was useful at the new site), was moved. Including 3/4 audio racks and the 2 NX50's. From what I know, everything else was installed brand new, including the Kintronic's phasor.

Thanks! Greatly appreciated.
