Las Vegas Why Don't Las Vegas Listeners Care About News, Talk or Sports?

Yep. And the other thing that gets overlooked all the time is the equity gain from owning in California.

I have two stepdaughters. Both married. One of them moved to rural Georgia and bought a house (4 bedroom, two stories, close to an acre of land) for $239,900.

The other kept her eyes peeled for a deal and was willing to drive a little. She and her husband live in a rural area of the Sierra foothills and she commutes 35-ish miles into the Sacramento metro most days. Her house is a little smaller than her sister's but she has more land.

They paid more for their house, but I guarantee you theirs will appreciate at a more rapid rate than the one in Georgia, the one in Georgia will top out in value more quickly, and, because of Prop 13, the property tax on the California house can only go up by 2% a year.

Georgia has no cap. It requires a written explanation of any increase of more than 15% per year and so they write explanations. Researching as I write this, DeKalb County (the eastern part of the Atlanta metro) is proposing a 27.63% increase in the property tax this year. Chatham County, which is the county where Savannah is located, is proposing a 50% property tax hike for people living in unincorporated areas.

One of my stepdaughters is going to end up being considerably wealthier than the other, and it's the one who figured out a way to stay in California.

And guess what happened today?

Kinda curious cities like Chicago and Seattle have outlets of The Answer but Vegas only has KDWN on FM only now which can struggle to get out and KMZQ on 670 AM which is effectively daytime only in my part of Vegas because the signal is completely worthless at night. Even for my ears and I love shortwave listening where signals can be highly variable and noisy.

Granted KDWN is on HD from Black Mountain but how many actually listen to that?

The big difference in those markets is obviously Salem. If they owned at least two AM stations in Las Vegas, one of the would likely be a version of The Answer.

News Talk 840 KXNT covers like a wet blanket and has Erick Erickson on in the evening.

They carry some Salem programming including Charlie Kirk and the Gunslinger Radio show. I think they also used to carry Larry Elder and Dennis Prager at one point.

I have a good friend who works at KXLI Exa FM 94.5 in Las Vegas, the same network as MVS Radio in Mexico. He told me that they were doing very well in terms of ratings and events, and that they had a good response, but where they always had a problem was in marketing.

Unfortunately, local Hispanic radio in Las Vegas is riddled with deception, fraud, and injustice.

Was going to listen to the headlines on KDWN 101.5 but they had a sports show on. Not sure if it was on HD or how long they've had it. I think it's fairly new though. Heard new home of some team or other.

A subjective comment- while many are aware of the southwest direction to Henderson, to the northwest there is a whole city of Las Vegas that millions of people are not aware of.
