‘ CBS 60 Minutes’ publicly releases transcripts of interview to the FCC

DHS secretary Noem claims her interview with CBS was "deceptively edited."

However, in keeping with the CBS News agreement with the FCC, the entire unedited interview was posted on their website:

Apparently the administration wants to control the content of their interviews.

CBS News has now changed its interview policy regarding Face The Nation. Interviews will air unedited,

“FACE THE NATION will now only broadcast live or live-to-tape interviews (subject to national security or legal restrictions),” the broadcaster said. “This extra measure means the television audience will see the full, unedited interview on CBS and we will continue our practice of posting full transcripts and the unedited video online.”

"Glorious Leader Trump has declared that he has created more jobs than any President for 1000 years"

I still don’t get this. So CBS was forced to pay $16 million for something I do daily, cutting down long soundbites for air?

No, they voluntarily paid $16 million to get the president's billion dollar lawsuit to go away.

And even after that, the DHS secretary claims her interview was "deceptively edited." They believe the media is supposed to work for them.

The president will appear on CBS 60 Minutes tonight for the first time in 5 years, and the first time since he sued them:

It will be interesting to see if the interview is edited in any way.

What will be both interesting and revealing is if Mrs. O'donnell raises questions raised by critics of the President and if she follows up if the U.S. President doesn't answer those satisfactorily. Given that the Ellisons now own the network, my betting is that neither, especially the second, will happen. I think I'll stick with NPR and (maybe) Pacifica and BIN.

They showed a clip this morning, and she asked how he would retaliate if China invaded Taiwan.

The president talked about the situation at CBS News during his 60 Minutes interview. He also gave editing suggestions:

“I see good things happening in the news. I really do. And I think one of the best things to happen is this show and new ownership, CBS and new ownership. I think it’s the greatest thing that’s happened in a long time to a free and open and good press.”

Trump specifically brought up David Ellison’s recent hiring of Bari Weiss as CBS News editor-in-chief, albeit not by name. “The young woman that’s leading your whole enterprise is a great — from what I know. I don’t know her, but I hear she’s a great person,” Trump said after bringing up the Paramount settlement. (This is one of the parts of the interview that Trump suggested could be trimmed.)

I didn't listen to the interview; but I listened to NPR's news this morning, and the interview was hardly mentioned. However, from what I understand, reporter O'Donnell didn't challenge any of the President's "facts" and "assertions". While the President and his followers may support this kind of interview, I think many more will not. And, if Miss Weiss is changing "60 Minutes" to reflect both the interview style and to be more pro-President, I fully expect the show's audience numbers to plummett.
