Buffalo Winners of BBA Media Awards 2025. What's The Deal Behind Them?

The Buffalo Broadcasters released the winners of the 2025 BBA Media Awards (See Below). Congratulations to All!

Can someone within the BBA explain the nomination process and who was on the nominating committee? What criteria was used to determine nominations? For example... WBEN & WECK were both "nominated" for "station of the year." WHY were these stations nominated? Was it ratings? Community involvement? Creative promotions?

Who tabulated and "certified" the votes? For these awards to be taken seriously within the industry the process should be transparent. Without transparency, the awards lack credibility and are just a popularity contest voted by a very small group of individuals.
  • Radio Program of the Year: David Bellavia, NewsRadio 930 WBEN
  • Radio Station of the Year: WGR SportsRadio 550
  • Television Anchor of the Year: Ed Drantch, WKBW
  • Television Station of the Year: WGRZ-TV
  • Multimedia Journalist of the Year: Eileen Buckley, WKBW
  • Rising Star Award: Alessia Gervasi, WGRF
  • Best Use of Social Media: Sal Capaccio & Matt Bove, It’s Always Gameday in Buffalo
  • Sales Executive of the Year: Stephanie Dulski, Audacy
  • Off-Air Broadcast Professional of the Year: Andy Donovan, Producer, D-Post & Aaron Mason, News Director, WKBW
  • Sports Professional of the Year: Sal Capaccio, WGR
  • Meteorologist of the Year: Andy Parker, Digital

Looks like they are stacking the deck to get people to pay the high sum of $150 and sit for hours in agony while they honor people who really are lukewarm players…not Legends! This thing has jumped the shark. Time to sunset the BBA Awards!
