New York's Hot 97 Radio Coming to Atlanta TV?

MediaCo's Hip Hop "Hot 97" WQHT New York brand will make its broadcast television debut in Atlanta. CNZ Communications completed

The FCC database shows no TV station with the WHOT calls and no CP for WGBP to move into the Atlanta market. But the CEO of CNZ Communications, owners of WGBP, is quoted so I suppose it's true. But I find the concept kind of strange.

Will it even get off the ground if Urban One successfully gets a C&D order due to trademark infringement over use of the "Hot" name? Given WHTA 107.9 already uses the brand on-air in Atlanta...

It reminds me of that Springfield MA station that tried to rename itself WWBZ, and CBS legal was on them in a heartbeat.

The call sign change authorization is real; I saw it before the FCC shut down. It's an odd facility with two transmitters.

That station was in Athol, well north and east of Springfield. The FCC approved the WWBZ call. Their trouble with WBZ Boston came when they started to identify as "700 WBZ."

It's an STA that's not currently accessible while LMS is offline during the shutdown.
 
WGBP's site now says it's a "Dr. Phil affiliate", but all its links (contact, programming guide, "About Us", etc.) are flagged as harmful.
 
The Xfinity on-screen guide shows Dr. Phil Wake Up at 6 AM but as of 6:30 AM they're showing Dog Tales. However, they are indeed still branding as Merit TV.
