‘ CBS 60 Minutes’ publicly releases transcripts of interview to the FCC

Even when he says totally bonkers things, like grocery prices are up today because Biden released people from mental institutions?

Once he says things like that, people have to decide if he's senile or suffering from dementia. The role of the media is to give him the forum.

That's not true. You should read the transcript.

It's supposed to be an interview, not an argument. One can waste a lot of time correcting this president.

Looking at the transcript, it's clear that the President was (mostly) having his way with O'Donnell. The *very* least that CBS could have done (and you know the President would have objected to this) was place factual information on the screen when the President was talking.

And no! the role of the media is not to give the U.S. President a forum to say whatever he wishes without fact checking which we can do now. I mean even arguing that is prima facially wrong! The basic role of the U.S. media is to be a counterweight to those currently in power and to give us factual information on which we can make decisions in the voting booth. If the media is unable to do this--especially because the U.S. President will not allow them to challenge what he/she says--then the kind of government we have and that was installed in 1787 is most likely gone for good.

I'll say it again: An interview is not an argument. It's not a debate. She asked the questions, and he responded. Once he's done, it's time for analysis and fact checking.

You want O'Donnell to argue with the president. If he's lying or wrong or anything else, the information is available. You want the media to take sides, and that's why people are saying the media is biased. They give the factual information in their reporting. People have to do the work.

I think the media should provide factual information about the President's statements regardless of which party is in power. Also, many of those who argue that the media is biased are themselves biased towards one side or the other and wish that the media would reflect their biases instead of providing factual information.

Here is the 60 Minutes interview

It's edited.

The president talked about the situation at CBS News during his 60 Minutes interview. He also gave editing suggestions:

I thought Trump's grievance that started this whole thread was that CBS should not be editing interviews.

Meanwhile, a segment about crypto and corruption was reportedly edited out of the CBS interview with Trump and was not even added back in to the "full" interview posted online which was falsely advertised as being complete, “without the network’s edits and cuts.”

Report here:

He believes a lot of things that are not true. People need to hold him accountable or there will be nothing left to defend.

The people elected him. The people gave him and his people full control of the government. That's a fact.

They were warned. The media reported what he planed to do. There were no secrets. All out in the open. They still voted for him.

The media can only do so much. The government licenses radio & TV. So the media is on a leash.

The constitution doesn’t give him the full power of the government.

If his party runs congress, and they don't stop him, and his party chose the supreme court, and they don't stop him, then what?

The FCC says it's looking into radio & TV stations. That's what this is thread about. The president picks the FCC.
