Director Rob Reiner and wife Michelle found dead in their home

To get this back to broadcasting, ABC is airing a Rob Reiner special tomorrow night:
That is probably the LAST thing I'd watch at this point in time. Give it about 6 months or a year and maybe I could stomach it then.

Did we really? The closest I saw on social media were people repeating Kirk's own words in opposition to gun control, such as "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment".

That's not "celebrating" or "cheering" his death -- just finding it terribly ironic. And there was fierce pushback against anyone who said anything the least bit critical of Kirk. College professors got fired for saying things as benign as "Charlie Kirk's death is a reflection of the violence, fear and hatred he sowed. It does not excuse his death, AND it's a sad truth."

In essence, being told that they had to support Kirk, or else-- they had no choice (the same things Republicans claim liberals told Trump voters about Biden, IIRC).

Yeah, I tried to re-watch The Princess Bride last night, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I was that way with Phil Hartman for a while. I would start watching, think about what happened to him and then get angry.

Also I remember when Rob Reiner was compared to Norman Lear given that Reiner followed in the footsteps of Norman Lear as Director/producer. Yes if you are a fan of all in the family this was the place where Rob Reiner became a legend as an actor. I don’t know which TV Networks are airing All in the Family today but Norman Lears team released the episodes of All in the Family on YouTube.

This is terrible. I always liked it when he would comment on how much "All in The Family" meant to him. And he directed some great movies.

I guess you could say he was reunited with his co-stars other than Sally Struthers who is still with us.

There is a difference between “being told they had to support Kirk” and saying that statements approving of his murder are not appropriate.

I just finished watching Spinal Tap II. I believe this was Reiner's last project. It was hard watching without thinking about the tragedy, He not only directed, but acted in the movie as the documentarian.

Update MeTV will air All in the Family in response to Rob Reiners death.

Weigel is one of several networks that has licensed the show in syndication, with episodes typically aired during a two-hour block that starts at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Sundays.

The full list of episodes that will air during the Rob Reiner tribute appears below (all times Eastern on all platforms, and Pacific on over-the-air affiliates):

  • 6 p.m.: “Mike’s Problem” (Season 2, Episode 9)
  • 6:30 p.m.: “Mike Comes Into Money” (Season 3, Episode 8)
  • 7 p.m.: “Mike’s Appendix” (Season 3, Episode 11)
  • 7:30 p.m.: The Games Bunkers Play” (Season 4, Episode 8)
  • 8 p.m.: “Mike’s Graduation” (Season 4, Episode 24)
  • 8:30 p.m.: “No Smoking” (Season 5, Episode 23)
  • 9 p.m.: “Gloria Suspects Mike” (Season 6, Episode 10)
  • 9:30 p.m.: “Two’s a Crowd” (Season 8, Episode 19)

For those who didn't click through to the article, or (like me) had to read around the pop-up that complains about my ad blocker, this apparently will air twice, the second airing being at 10:00pm Pacific Time (perhaps they have their math wrong ... because to air at 6:00pm Pacific, as @Y2kTheNewOldies reported, it would have to air at 9:00pm Eastern) for stations out here on the west coast MeTV feed (which includes a couple that Weigel owns directly).

I think I will check TitanTV later, after it updates, to see when it is scheduled on KAZA/54.1 and KDOC/56.3 (the latter now being a simulcast of the former since the sale to TCT).

I always wondered what the point of the simulcast was, 54.1 is HD, 56.3 is not.

56.3 started under KDOC's previous ownership and the lease/affiliation of that subchannel began in 2011 when the network was only available in SD. Weigel purchased KAZA seven years later, by which time the HD feed had become available (IIRC, that happened in 2016) so they naturally used that feed for their O&O. The lease for 56.3, however, likely has provisions specifying the technical specifications for transmission, and I certainly don't see TCT deciding to upgrade that on their own.

I'm sure that the HD simulcast of KAZA replacing the original feed on KDOC was done because TCT preferred not to have to keep maintaining equipment for secular subchannels. Can't prove it, but it seems likely.

I have found many errors in TitanTV listings lately. Especially in the non-network diginets.

This is just such a horrific story. I feel so bad for their daughter. Can you imagine finding your parents sliced to pieces, and then realizing that your brother was the one who did it? Sad and tragic.

Yeah, but they have a pretty good batting average with the networks. I think I'll get an accurate MeTV listing for KAZA/KDOC by week's end.

Update: Nick Reiner had his first court appearance today in a suicide vest. He did NOT enter a plea. He is being held without bond. His arraignment has been delayed until January 7th, 2026.

I sent my Condolences to Rob Reiner's family and the filming industry community as well. Lord, pray for them.

The rest of the Reiner Family makes a statement on Rob Reiner and Michele Singer's deaths.

KPRC-TV Houston discloses that one of their former news staff member Jake Reiner was part of their team from 2016-2018 while using articles from the National News feeds on the death of Rob Reiner and that he's part of the family affected by this story in which his brother is being accused as a person of interest in the death of their parents.

While I vehemently disagreed with what Kirk said he had the right to say it and ABSOLUTELY was disgusted by what that psychopath did. May not have liked what happened as the guy had a wife and young kids that are now fatherless and that is what bothers me the most. And the one thing I really liked about him was that he invited the opposition to "come up and prove me wrong".
