1110 New Format

You don't want to know what that song sounds like to my ears. It might be one of the songs Chimp and I agree on.

LOL! I remember hearing it a GMS back in the early '80s and lo and behold, it shows up as a stunt on a local paint burner, AHHHHHHHHHH!

THAT'S IT!!!

The new 1110 format will be unveiled on Wednesday, April 1!

😜

(Or if not, maybe on Tuesday, November 10 ...)

LOL! In the words of a DJ from Rich Lands, VA some years ago (she may still be there, can't remember) you must-a-had your razor blade soup today! Gotta figure out how to edit/splice, etc, quotes in a good way.

DXers are reporting no signal from WBT 1110 as of 0119UTC 2-12

They may be doing some technical work. I noticed yesterday that the issue with 105.3's HD signal had been resolved. That problem had been ongoing since they moved over to Julian Price Place in 2023. I also noticed that 102.5 translator's HD carrier has been activated. It wasn't on before.

If it was off, it’s back on with the stunt loop as of 8:36pm EST.
I encountered the same thing. In the roughly 20-minute interval that WBT was off (I just happened to be in my car where WBT is most easily available to me), several stations were fighting it out, stations I would never have heard otherwise. I did get an ID on WUNN Mason MI.

Maybe they'll launch something at midnight
Well, whatever they do, whenever they do it, they're going to have to promote it to death on 107.9, online, outdoor advertising, TV spots, whatever, because by this time, nobody outside the DX/hobbyist community associates WBT with 1110 anymore. Nobody will have been away from 1110 for the past six weeks or so, then all of a sudden decide to listen to WBT, expecting to hear Brett Winterble and so on, and get there and find out that it's not there anymore. That ship has sailed.

In short, whether they call it WBT, or something else, they're going to have to build a whole new station.

Even more difficult is the listeners have moved on from the AM band to 107.9 now. 1110 was the last viable AM (outside of niche stations) on the AM band in Charlotte after 610 moved to FM. Good luck getting people back there for anything.

That is entirely possible. Glad to see work being done in that regard.

Now that's the truth right there.

Yeah and I hate to say it, but, especially after this stunt loop.

Even though I don't like the stunt loop, it's better than plate voltage off.
At the 100 kw Nautel we had at Mega in Buenos Aires the transmitter had no "Plates" to turn off. Very few stations except those that can't afford a new rig are using hollow state any more... even the major tube re-builder in the US is closing that service this year.

Hell, I miss the blue glow of rectifier tubes, and that dates me considerably.
